I watched the game last night, he actually played pretty well, he didn't dominate the ball as evidenced on only taking 6 shots and he is probably most responsible for getting curry points last night. I don't see how someone who got 9 assists and only took 6 shots is acting spoiled.
uninterested? lol. you couldn't name 5 players in the NBA that play harder than steve francis does. his problem is that he just isn't that good.
LOL are you kidding me? how is steve francis not that good? He definitely was the best player on the rockets when he was here, and hes still one of the best all around guards in the NBA. Hes just playing in a system that doesnt cater to him right now.
Nothing is wrong with Francis. I was watching some of the Knicks/Pacers game tonight and Francis looks like a different player. Hes more team oriented. Looks for his teammates a lot more and doesn't force bad shots. Although, the Knicks defense is horrible.
Steve's problem has been the same since he got to the NBA (maybe before, but I don't follow college ball), he is at his best when he is the focus of the offense, but he is not good enough for a contender to build their offense around. His place is as a stat hound on a bad team, like Mike James.
I watched todays game against Indiana and it looks like Steve has finally got it to some extent. He doesn't over dribble or dominates the ball like he used to. He still needs to learn how to catch and shoot better but he plays more under control. Too bad nobody else on that team gets it or knows how to play any defense what so ever.
Steve needs to pattern/model his game after Chauncy Billups. He isn't as good of a shooter as him, but he's far more athletic. Either way, Billups is a perfect example of a guy who turned his career around (after he failed to live up to his previous hype), after he found the right system and right coach. Either that, or he needs to demand a trade to the Suns... that will turn any athletic guard's career around.
I think Steve is most like Gilbert Areanas (not as good). He needs to have the bal in his hands to make things happen. That's why he has not been successful as a sg. Although Gilbert plays the point, he doesnt get many assists. He's not a great shooter either, but he is a good scorer. The only difference is that gilbert can take over a game while steve does not seem to be able to.
Yea, that's sure saying alot.. If that includes turnovers, sure. By 'cater to him', if you mean allow him to dominate the ball in isolations for 95% of the shot clock, yea you're probably right..
He was never as good as his "Franchise" tag would imply. He is a solid player, an All- Star, but not someone to build your team around. He went through the "Damon Stoudamire phenomenon." He put up really good stats on mediocre teams. If he could fix his decision making flaws (doubtful, IMO), he could still be an important piece to a contender.
isiah needs to start the rookie at the three and q rich at two and think about benching marbury till he proves he still has his athleticism. you can't start two point guards when one of them looks like he's lost a step. they are getting burned.
