Well, I got my 360 back in less than a week and so far the only problem is when I lifted my cat off it (he loves laying on a heat source) he grabbed it so that the rear of the machine lifted up and then dropped, dislodging the hard drive (which led to a hardware problem). I put the HD back in and so far I haven't had any further error messages. I'm holding my breath for the next couple of days though.
geez thats some bad luck ive never had a system crap out on me all the way from atari 2600 to the xbox. ive never had any playstations. and also havent got a 360. i think i may be waiting until the playstation 3 comes out and at least one price drop then i will be getting one of those suckers. gonna have to get the nice flat screen tv to!
MS was updating the servers in the last 24 hours or so. It should be up by now though IIRC (along with Lumines Live). On closer inspection, maybe it never came back up (or it went down again). Forget what I said. Maybe the update isn't complete.
Actually Xbox support is p*ssing me off. I called in three days ago to set up a repair order and they told me their 'system is down call back in 24~48 hours'. I called back twice the next day and once yesterday and each time they say the system is down, meaning I can't get the final confirmation number so I can mail it out. So today I'm going to try again and hope their 'system is finished updating'. Every time I call I have to go through their annoying touch-tone procedure and listen to their crap music while I wait for the next available representative
Yes it is typical my second one just died and I had it less than 2 months. You only get a 90 day warranty from microsoft unless you pay extra for the extended warranty which you must have if you plan to buy one. This is the crappiest electronic product I have ever purchased.
my xbox360 just died after installing the fall update available over xbox live. of course, they want $140 to fix it (and possibly an additional $140 every time it dies in the future). i'm not sure if the extended warranty can be purchased after it gets bricked once, but thats an additional $60. so at worst, its an additional minimum of $200 out of my pocket for that POS. anyone look into this? http://www.chilliflash.com/ or, i may try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYv6b7MndJk
my video just crapped out on my 360 that have some stupid ass bluegrass music for customer service too. This makes me want to get a ps3 now. I haven't even played this 360 that much. I got one freakin game and it craps out.
wow, just seems one after another for these 360's going down! i picked mine up on wed, so we shall see how long it lasts. got it at gamestop and did purchase the 1 yr extended warranty through them for $40. We shall see
I've had mine since launch and never had a problem with it. I wonder if it has anything to do with how much you use it? I consider myself a light user who hasn't logged very many hours gaming. However, I do use the DVD player quite often. The whole system has been flawless for me.
i got my xbox360 in july, but i hardly ever used it. never used it to play dvds and rarely made use of xbox live. i downloaded a few demos from xbox live but didnt play them much. at most, i played 1-2 games of NCAA 2007 a week. thats it. if anyone is considering getting an xbox360, make sure you get the extended warranty. i was stupid for thinking that this thing would be able to last a year without having any problems.
no promblem with mine i had it since july!! By the way if you dont have the extended warranty i know a guy who can repaire your 360 for 50 dollars in front of you hit me up if interested @ middle_man_rt@sbcglobal.net
its sitting on a shelf in my entertainment center where i think it gets enough ventilation. i have it lying down rather than standing on its side. it hasnt been modded, hacked, or tampered with. honestly, my system has hardly even been touched. from what i can tell from looking around the net, people are claiming that its the fall update that has caused a lot of problems for people: and apparently, microsoft has acknowledged the problem:
