I'm starting a thread to ask the question: does anyone know how Kenny Thomas is doing after getting bitten by Boylan's dog? I haven't heard anything from the Chronicle, but I'm thinking that he should be okay because how long does it take to recover from a dog bite? If it takes a long time, then we certainly would have heard that his bite was more serious than what was reported. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know. I appreciate the help.

I don't know how he's doing, but it can't be that bad - we'd be flooded with news about it if it was a serious dog attack... No nerve damage, most importantly.

I hope he's got a nice scar to show for it, though. Maybe he'll intimidate someone with it...:p

Treeman, that's what I was thinking too, but I figured that pops or Doc Rocket or somebody else would know for sure. BTW - thanks for being the "scapegoat" in that thread that will never die that was started by someone named like Rasheeba or something. :) You stated what took me around 1000 words in a couple of succint paragraphs. I know that you didn't have to do it, but I appreciate it.

BTW, I have no info on KT, the dog, or the bite.

    MR:

No prob. Please, continue to try and draw OP and Doc Rocket into saying something important. 99% of the time they can keep their lids shut, but I live (here, anyway) for those rare moments when they speak :)

    Carry on.

The dog? I hope Kenny didn't acquire a nickname and die on us - or worse, get traded...

Or do you mean the dog that bit him and got put to sleep?

    Proposal for KT nickname:

    Kenny "Mad Dog" Thomas :D

It would go well with the scar at any rate. ;)

    or "K9" Kenny.

    Or Relativist.....no.

What, KT threated to walk unless Boylen did the family pet?

Man did that piss me off. They killed the dog for what? Defending the family? How many dogs have you seen snarl and try to bite if you come too close to the door or window? It's called defending territory. The dog didn't do anything wrong, the humans did. But it's the dog that paid.

So Kenny will have a small scar on his face. BFD.

I was surprised when I read it, but when the story about Kenny being bitten came out it also said the dog was put to sleep. I agree, however, the dog didn't do anything worthy of death.

From what I understand it's common practice that dogs who attack people are put to sleep. I'm not sure if it's a law or just a standard, but it's done all the time. It's not Kenny's fault or the Rockets fault or anyone elses fault, it's just what is done in these sort of cases.

For all we know, the KT bite might just be the latest in a long line of attacks. It might have been in defense, or the dog my be a threat to society. I think you're going overboard in speculating on what the politics behind the dog's death was.

are we restarting the "put the dog to sleep" arguement?

it is the more common than not for animals which attack to be put to sleep (unless of course they're guard dogs or zoo/circus animals, which are a slightly different case). The reasoning behind this is that it could attack again in certain unpredictable circumstances (sp?). Animal attacks can be savage, regardless of the size of the animal. A bite to the neck from a jack russel can do as much damage as that of a pitt bull (though it wouldn't get as messy;)).

I agree that the dog shouldn't have been put to sleep unless maybe it had a history of biting people. I remember reading the story. The dog was a Boston Terrier. Those are some of the sweetest natured dogs around. Of course, there always are poor breeders out there that will produce dogs of bad lineage. I would think Boylen would be able to afford a good Boston Terrier with a good bloodline, but maybe he just didn't do his research. Or maybe the dog was just defending his family. Who knows?

It was just a bad story all the way around. :(
