College Station used to buy channel 51 games to televise locally (back in the Lisa Malosky days), but don't do so anymore. Good news though. The Saturday night game vs the Mavs at 7:30pm will be on tv channel 8 suddenlink, or whatever the new CW channel is on your cable/dish provider. For some reason, Waco's CW affiliate (UPN and the WB merging) picks up Mavs games from KXTA, so for one time this season a channel 51 game will be viewable. The rest of the time we're sol. Oh, and the game is the same time as the big OU @ A&M game on abc, so some of y'all will probably be there.

    Kim,

This is off topic, but I noticed you have Suddenlink. Do you get NBA TV in College Station?

I have Suddenlink in east Texas and they pulled the plug on NBA TV and replaced it with some awful college sports station.

    Just curious. Thanks

Yeah, I live in some apts up here in CS, and I always hate it when games are shown on 51 rather than FSN.

I dunno, the OU is a big game... but then again it's Rockets vs Mavs.

    I need picture and picture.

Like the Astros, they showed the games on UPN last season IIRC.

I'm hoping they do it again this season for the Rockets.

They used to show games on ch.15 I think, then started showing them on ch.20. I'll check 20 and 8 for this game, thanks for the heads up.

Why arent all the Rockets games shown in College Station, or Beaumont, towns like that?

It would suck to live in a town like those because if you get League Pass, the Rockets games would be blacked out.

Austin, TX is the Spurs Market, but only around 20 Spurs games a year are shown in Austin, and that is just unfair.

I don't understand why the NBA can't solve this problem. Just goes to show there are some idiots in this world.

I've been wondering this myself. While the Rockets/Jazz game was going down, the Fox Sports Southwest in College Station was showing ... wait for it ... mother****ing Dallas Stars hockey.

College Station is an unbearable enough town to live in as it is - but damn. Houston's much closer than Dallas, but they got ****ing HOCKEY games from Dallas going on during the Houston Rockets' season opener.

That is a prime example of messed-up priorities if I've ever seen one.

I live on campus at UH and they were showing the hockey game too. Were freakin 5 minutes away from Toyota center.

Are you sure you had the right channel? I watched that game on Fox Sports last night in College Station.

Edit: Is there a good bar here to watch Rockets games that won't be otherwise available?

Really? I was at the gym - and it was Fox Sports. Maybe different cable/dish providers?

I think local viewing of Rockets games, bars or gyms or otherwise, is probably entirely dependent on what type of cable/satellite system is being used. I haven't found a reliable place as of yet.

What cable company do you use?

Suddenlink is kind of new here in college station. They took over Cox, which was the dominant cable market.

As for bars to watch games. The Fox and Hound on University orders NBA League pass every year, so if there's a game on channel 51, then you have to go there and ask for it.

I doubt a local station picks up the channel 51 games because they haven't done so all preseason. I hope I'm wrong though.

    Some of you misunderstand.

Suddenlink (formerly Cox) shows all Rockets game that broadcast of Fox Sports Net on FSN ch. 25. It's funny because the yahoo tv guide never lists the Rockets broadcasts, but they do get shown.

So I guess it depends on your cable provider?

Oh, do you guys live on campus? Cause I know campus used to have the same cable as the rest of College Station (back in the day when I lived there), but they have a totally different provider now with like 100 channels or something....while that's cool, it sucks that FSN on campus would be zoned to Dallas and FSN by Suddenlink off campus would be zoned to Houston.

I live in College Station and I was able to see Astros games that were shown on channel 51 in Houston, on channel 20 in College Station.

I was watching the Rockets Jazz game on FSNSW on ch25 on my cable. There wasn't a hockey game on for me. (I'm in CS)

Buffalo Wild Wings has been good about showing Rockets and Astros games.....

Although don't expect to have it on tv Saturday, unless it's on one of the SMALLEr.....and I mean SMALLER screens. OU-TAMU will dominate their screens.
