I'm afraid Dikembe can no longer help us on the court. He is a great, charitable guy and all, but yesterday was embarrassing. We need an athletic, young backup center, Mutombo has lost all of his athleticism. Last year it took 2 seconds for him to get off the ground, this season it takes 3 seconds at the least. We can't afford someone that is going to be that much of an offensive liability, and we can't afford a center that is the last to get back on defense allowing freebies on the other side. Last night the rim blocked his shot, TWICE.

The rim blocked his shot...not once...but twice.....

He is not a factor any more....I would rather see J-Ho at the backup 5 spot.

It's depressing to think that Howard should be our backup 5. But I'll pose a question, where in the FA pool is there a free agent 5 that is young and atheletic? Or for that matter, who can we trade for a young atheletic 5?

We should have gotten Scot Pollard before the Cavs scooped him up, but he's getting 2.2 mil so I guess that would have meant no Bonzi unless something could have been worked out. Anyway, he'd be perfect backing up Yao.

Dikembe made me sad last night. :(

This is part of the "The Gay Trade sucked" mentality.

Giving up number 8 in Gay straight up for a mediocre player like Battier was bad enough. But Can anyone tell me that Stro wouldnt be a better option on the floor then Deke, or JHO?

I don't really understand how my post is related to the Gay trade, but I do agree that Stro is looking pretty good as a backup C right now. In fact that was what really sent me over the edge when the trade went down. It's not that we gave up too much talent, it's that we gave up our depth at the 5.

Bring back Haryasz by cutting JLIII, on the condition that Haryasz practices 500 FTs a day. Simple solution.

For the fans who follow the big mans game, this was obvious even at the end of last season.

    Ditto.

He didn't play defense worth a crap last night either. It was like his hands were stuck down by his side. I was screaming "Get your hands up in his face at least" too many times last night. Minimal rebounds, no offense, no defense - truly sad. I wanted Juwan in the game to play on Boozer at least.

Don't know but if this is what we will get it is time to move on with Deke.

He should be banned from entering a Rockets game for life.

Deke's reactions were slow and his timing was awful. It's a good thing he didn't go in the stands in Orlando, he might have gotten knocked out as slow as he is moving these days.

I agree. Deke no longer has it. He should be our last option at the 5 position. Rockets should just buyout his contract and get someone with that can put the ball in the basket.

It was obvious at the beginning of last season!

Cato might have been a better option...
