No I am hardly a sensitive YOF when it comes to Yao's performance and stats. Moreover, I wasn't commenting on media, rather, I merely intend to gauge your standard of evaluation of Yao vs, for instance, D. Howard. What's interesting is I haven't seen one guy in media cite Yao's numbers last season were out of garbage games, to which you have yet assigned a specific number. Or if you can humor me, how many games played by D. Howard ought to be deemed as garbage games as well? Perhaps a YOH in disguise is being exposed here?
We should all know very well by now how this works. As big men get closer to the end of their careers, more and more, they use a large chunk of the regular season to get INTO shape. Once the end of the regular season rolls around, they're physically fit and ready to take their game to the next level. Then in the playoffs, they pick teams apart. I don't know if Shaq is the ideal candidate for that kind of program. However, Hakeem used to do this. He would rest all summer, and start the season off slowly. What matters most to me is how Shaq plays in the playoffs. As for Yao, I'm not worried. He has shown in his 13 playoff appearances that he DOES take his game to another level during the playoffs, and as his conditioning improves slowly each season, he will continue to kick it into gear when it matters most. Oh, and I'd also like to say that Yao's defense is way better than Wallace's offense. As for Amare, we still don't know what kind of player he's going to be this season.
YOH? Man, please come off the planet wnes and come back to Earth. Did you read in the other thread where I said Yao is the best C in the league? Do it, since my opinion of Yao is so important to you. I said only hopeless Magic homers would say Howard is better than Yao. Garbage games? Any team out of playoff contention at the end of the season is playing garbage games. Nobody cares about them except the team, their opponent that night, and fans of that team. That is why some of the media still places Shaq as the #1 center ahead of Yao. Shaq won a championship while Yao was playing for a pathetic lottery team. The fact you roll out the "YOH in disguise" is pathetic. Suite yourself.
Creepy errr Rockets Dynasty, if you joined in June of this year, how would you know how many trade Yao threads there have been??? Also, how many of the trade Yao threads came after the very first game of the season? How many trade Yao threads were there last season?
Bynum isnt a rookie, I think you have him mixed up with farmar, their rookie draft pick this season who's only 19. I also agree Yao is really competing against dwight howard for that top center spot even though Yao is still better than him overall, the media will probably try to say otherwise Shaq is just too old and looks unmotivated out there (did he dunk the ball even once last night?) Even if its only the first game of the season your opening the new season on national TV right after you were given your championship rings, so i mean how could you not be motivated just somewhat? I never really understood the Ben Wallace comparisons either completely different player who we all know doesnt look to score. Amare however, isnt even a true center IMO and I dont know how long before he gets back into playing shape because he looks out of it
Well, you still don't get it, do you? Last time I checked, Orlando didn't make it to the Eastern Conference playoffs in '04-'05, Howard's rookie season, nor did it qualify for the playoffs a year later. Yet according to you, Dwight Howard reminds you a lot of 3-time MVP and former Rocket Moses Malone ... this kid has greatness written all over him ... to step into the NBA and average a double-double as an 18 year old rookie was amazing. What happened to the badass meaning of those meaningless garbage games? What has Howard been playing for all along? Again, we weren't talking about what media think of Yao or Howard, but only among fans like ourselves, were we? Oh please, don't be so riled up about "YOH in disguise." Unlike YOF, YOH is never a capital offense on this board. Much less for YOH-in-disguise. One thing I do agree with you though is I am pathetic and with no life, by arguing with total strangers on the Internet about 'bunch of multi-millionaire pro athletes. But then again, doesn't it suit you as well? Oh wait, I gotta be more pathetic, I even paid to squander my time here.
I agree. Shaq is living off the hype, but his game is lame! Amare was a great talent, I repeat was, he will never be that player again! Ben is solid defensively, but will never measure up offensively. Hands down, Yao is the best Center in the NBA Period!
Thanks, I was wrong about the "first NBA game" part - should be "first NBA game as a starter" Bynum just turned 19 last week.
I agree. Yao took the claim of "best center" last year but didnt get credit for it. Hopfully he will get some credit this year!
Sadly, the "best center" title doesn't mean much in today's NBA until it translates into winning more and succeed in the playoffs.
Shaq is lazy, just wants to get to the playoffs and then 'turn it on'. Heat could lose him and their record would not change. If they lost D-Wade then they're Oden-bound. Amare is a talent I sure as heck would expect to recover his greatness. Big Ben is Big Ben who is a big time synergistic contributor, with a personality akin to Super Mario's grumpiness. The guy is a winner. Yao is Yao and is Wao. I am quite happy he is a Rocket. Quite!
no more yao anyone comparisons... they always end up the same, either everyone has to agree yao is the greatest thing in the world, or everyone is a racist...
