I hope Mooch stays. He is probably my second favorite player (Wink is).

Call me naive, but isn't it up to Moochie if he plays here, and not Fegan?

Yes, it is. But Fegan, being a slimy salesman to the core, will do his best to encourage Moochie to go for the money, wherever it may lie.

He will point out how talented Moochie is, and how he could start for many teams. He will point out that his NBA career will not last very long in the scheme of things, and how he should try to squeeze it for all it's worth. When Moochie says that he'll be happy with $1.5 mil pewr year, Fegan will explain to him why he'd be happier with $3 mil per year, if nothing else for the retirement opportunities the extra $10+ mil accumulated over that career could bring him... The s*itty thing is that most of this pitch will be true.

He will do his best to bring out the inherent greed in Moochie (a quality that we all have, and is easy to arouse if you know what you're doing). He will make a good pitch that might bring them both more money in the long run, all the while making himself seem like Moochie's best friend in the world, and the only one who's really looking out for Moochie's interests. He will make it sound like a no-brainer.

And then he will tell Moochie that whatever he decides, "I'm with you"... If Moochie is still able to think clearly after this, then he will decide to stay.

I for one have always been impressed with Moochie's mental abilities. He doesn't come across as a dumbass. Maybe a little hyperactive, but I take that as a sign of a quick mind at work. I think he'll make the right choice in the end and stay.

I hope Moochie is sleeping on occasion nowadays. Maybe that would help him see things more clearly and realize he should be with the rockets no matter what .:D

Anyone know if he is catching more zzz's or is he still a raving insomniac?

Moochie is a backup and doesn't get much playing time, he isn't worth 2 million a year. Francis only makes 3 mill, Moochie shouldn't make anything near Francis

I think his insomnia was stress-related, particularly worrying about whether or not he would be picked up by a NBA team (after falling out and fighting to get back in via CBA). I had heard that at the time the Rockets acquired him, he was awake for 5-6 days straight (very pronounced insomnia) per week, but that he gradually learned to relax and sleep as his first season wore on.

He is a very high-strung person by nature. If you've ever heard him talk, you'd think he was on coke or crystal. I've heard rumors that he was, but he's like that even when he likely has not had the opportunity to do any coke/speed. He's just naturally like that (a clear candidate for a hyperactivity disorder, but not necessarily with disorganized thought). I sincerely hope he hasn't regressed into his insomnia - that can really cloud your judgment.

Moochie is a very good backup, and $2 mil is acceptable money for a good backup PG. Truly good backup PGs are not a dime a dozen as some would have you believe, and cannot be plucked from the developmental leagues on 5 minutes notice. Shooters are a dime a dozen; guys who know how to actually coordinate and run an NBA-level offense are harder to find. He deserves about $2 mil, and a few years guaranteed, IMHO. $1.5 per is cheating him, but the $3 mil per that Fegan wants is too much.

And Steve will make a lot more than $3 mil when his current contract expires and he is resigned. Try the max.
