Oh my ****ing god I remember that game. OT was throwing it in, and OT had this amazing baseball type passing skill. Hell, he had the biggest hands in the history of the NBA so they say. It was suppose to go to Hakeem in the post, but it bounced off the backboard, and starting to bounce out of bounds and Maxwell grabs it, turns around fadeway falling out of bounds into the warriors bench. I just remember me and my dad jumping off the couch for that. I think that came in the second season, before OT was traded.
T-Mac's Game 2 Winner. It doesn't compare to some of the other shots, but the way Bill Worrell called the play was great. "McGrady, 6 seconds, Down to 5, down to 4, McGrady for the win....YEEEEEEESSSS! Tracy McGrady! Outstanding! Outrageous! Simply Incredible!" It's at the end of these highlights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK6galQrajw <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rK6galQrajw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rK6galQrajw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
How can Kenny Smith's 95 Finals Game 1 end of regulation 3 be overlooked? If he doesn't hit that shot, the whole series might play out differently. Equally or more important than Kiss of Death.
Too young for Sampson. I'd definately have to go with Kiss of Death, as far as what that shot meant for the franchise. However, on sheer dificulty alone I have to go with TMac's comeback. How he made those last three, 3's I have no idea. I think I just watched all those videos at least three times each. As someone else already mentioned, they really never get old too much. The dunk on Bradley was also out of this world. My favorite part though was JB falling on the ground after McGrady rode Bradley, just classic.
I think I do. Was that the game where someone on the Warriors had hit a very difficult three in the previous possesion to take the lead, and then Mad Max knocks down the game winner?
SI had an article after game 1 saying the series was over. Turns out they were right, they just picked the wrong team.
Kenny Smith's game tying 3 pointer in 94-95 Championship Game #1 should be mentioned more than once. If it wasnt for that shot, I do not believe Rockets would have gone to win the 2nd championship that year. He bastically carried the team in the first game.
Ralph. FTW. Even if I was only 5... I've watched that 5 million times. Incredible. While we're on MadMax, let's not forget the fadeaway 3 falling out of bounds against the Heat to send the game into OT at the buzzer which eventually sent the game into OT in '93. "An impossible, improsible, incredible 3 point play by Vernon Maxwell" -Heat announcer
To give you youngers some frame of reference, Ralph Sampon's shot is #11 on NBA.com's all-time greatest moments list. Mario Ellie's 'kiss of death' is #55. Ellie's shot was a great Rocket shot ...but Sampon's shot was one for the ages because it took out the legendary Magic Johnson and Kareem ...which nobody thought was even worth mentioning as a possibility before the series started.
How about in i think 83 or 84 when Caldwell Jones hit a baseline three pointer to beat the Hawks, classic.
1. kiss of death 2. vernon maxwell's "dagger shot" (boy the look on john stark's face was AWESOME) 3. sampsons tip in. I was like 2 when it happened but I've seen clips and to top the lakers that game was something extremely special. 4. tmac's comeback @$$beating of the spurs. those would be my favorite. that and when kenny smith had like..6 3's in one playoff game. that was nuts too.
