Gosh, this is awful. Violence should only be reserved for self-defense, never be the 1st option to fight racism. What you boys did to that guy is just plainly wrong.

so let's give racists a carte blanche for such indispicable behavior.

buying a ticket to a game should not serve as a barrier to you getting your a$$ kicked because of something racist you said. if saying something racist like that gets you an a$$-whooping on the street, then expect it if you bring that trash to an arena or elsewhere.

LOL ... I'd like to think there is some mitigating factor to be considered if it ends up in court.

Wow. I have read a lot of these posts. There are a lot of very smart people in ClutchFans. I am proud to be a part of it. For us to talk about something so serious and not have a battle is awesome. There are some young ones here too. I am one of them I guess. Some of us still have a lot to learn. Anyway just wanted to share.

oh yea Mutumbo was totally in the right. The guy should be banned for a year.

    edit: sorry for double posting.

Mutombo is probably one of the nicest guys in the history of nice guys. With that being said, everyone has their buttons that, when pushed, make them go from 0 to 60 instantly. Mutombo showed good judgement by not going into the stands, which I know was VERY difficult to do. I really want to know what Stern is gonna say about this...

We don't know what all was said and all the words exchanged between the fan with the gay shirt and the great Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacques Wamutombo...

All we know is one of the words was monkey, I'm sure if we heard everything else we would be behind Mt Mutombo even more.

And as said above.. You mess with Big Deke, you messin with me!!

He is 7 feet, his name has 7 words and he will put 7 stitches in your @$$ with those elbows so you better watch out!!!!!!

The Red Rowdies deifnitly need to come up with a chant in appriciation of Mutombo and work off this

       ;)

Well I guess I'm a wuss. I won't even try to debate that point. Like I said, I didn't try to pay attention and didn't realize the extent of it. I wish I did pay attention and I'm sure I would've said something. But I'm not going to get violent. If I responded they would probably start to threaten me and I would have called security. I don't feel sorry for the guy your cousin beat down, I guess he had it coming sooner or later in life, but would you or your cousin have approached him w/out your friends around?

And not to prove that I'm such a tough guy, but unfortunately w/ my current situation I've had to get into plenty of confrontations w/ drug dealers and similar types. In the first confrontation I had, I got a black eye. But the other guy's face had blood all over the left side of his face. AND the cops called the paramedics for HIM just as a precaution that he wasn't injured too badly. I freaked out because he looked far worse and I thought they would book me, but it was obvious I was in self defense and they took away the other guy (btw he was 6'1 250, and I'm only 5'10 135). But I learned my lesson. To this day I still regret getting baited into a physical altercation and I've avoided it ever since. I've got a graduate degree and was reduced to the level of a high school drop out career criminal. And believe me, I've had guys run up in my face asking me to take a swing. But I remembered that moment. Now, I just let the cops handle it. Lesson learned.

Not all of us believe in evolution.

And I find the term "cookie monster" quite offensive on the same level as "monkey".

First of all, we have a lot of black players in Germany as well. Secondly, just because a few idiots act in a stupid way, please do not generalize like that.

Okay, I just saw the clip...to those who think the guy made a racist remark, does it make any difference that the guy is black? At least looked that way to me.

    Did you know......

that monkey characters were used to depict the Irish as well?? here's a neat little cartoon showing how blacks and the irish are similar from a genetic standpoint...and thus, worthy of extinction. stay classy, Harper's Weekly.

the irish were sold as slaves, just as the africans were, by the british.

people have characterized those they deem as undesirable for a long time, now. mutombo has every right to be upset by it.
