yeah that's what i'm saying, i saw a couple posts freaking out and watching the game i don't see what the big deal is. i think if this was the regular season he might not have even come out.

just commeniting on various posts i've seen in this thread:

dwight howard is a freaking beast but of the 12 points he scored before yao left the game i'm pretty sure he only managed 2 when yao was actually on the court.

chuck hayes didn't lose his position on this team because he couldn't hold howard. that's almost unfair. dwight howard is chuck hayes with 5 inches and steroids. i think against most teams chucky is perfectly capable of backing up the 5 or the 4.

i still like vspan. i'd say atleast half of his turnovers where again from happy feet/carrying and that's some that WILL be corrected. he's got a lot to learn and van gundy is going to be in his face, but he will repsond. dude has a natural ability to see the floor and he's flat-out aggressive. at some point he will be very good.

t-mac looked alright, i think he actually looked better the second half last night, but it doesn't really matter. i'm convinced he's the same player he was he's just waiting to bust out. i am, however, hoping that he busts his ass practicing free throws for the next week.

same thing with yao, i think he'll be fine. he was dominating two months ago in the championships with the exact mentalitly he had in the second half of last season.

I have always rated Howard much higher than Amare, despite Amare's "stunning performance." Comparatively, Howard is on another level on defense, and his offense is slowly turning around. The knock I have on Amare, is that he is a finisher, not a creator and he is terrible at defense. The offense for the Magic on the other hand, can start and finish with Howard.

Speaking of Yao. He's just in the groove yet. I have no doubts in his ability. He's just really out of sync, but we should give him time for that. As for T-mac. I have no idea why someone would have a pop at him when its preseason. Every single star player takes challenged shots with other people wide open. Look at Lebron, I'm sure everyone enjoys watching him brick 3s when you have supposedly 3pt specialist out there that are open. Their ability and courage to take those shots is what makes wide open players EVEN more wide open. So... I guess we should trade those two players, because clearly, Yao is no match for Curry, nor is he any better than the caveman down in LA. I'm sure the Lakers would drool over the fact that Yao's trade value will go down, and decide to trade Yao for Mihm, Sasha + Brown.

I think Yao need probably 10 games to work the rest of his rust off

and after that, the sky is the limit

Based on the preseason game last night, Yao is soft and injury prone. Let trade his big ass to Sun for Amare, who obviously is tough and durable.

Have any of you guys seen what some of these morons in Orlando wrote?? You guys are going to love some of the stuff that they are writing about T-MAC and MM. There are only a few, but they are ridiculous.

    http://forums.orlandosentinel.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=os-articles&tid=3551

    Here are my two favorites:
    About T-MAC:

"Remember a couple years ago when T-mac said he wanted to be traded and that no one one in the draft was good enough of a player to make him want to say? Then Dwight Howard, a top prospect in that draft, said publicly that he wanted T-mac to stay so they could play together. In the long run the Magic got the best of that situation. Dwight will continue to get better and the Magic will continue schooling the Rockets for years to come." -- Dow11

This makes me want to go to Orlando during a Rockets game wearing all my Rockets' Red. Idiots. They really one that deal. Steve, Cat, and Cato are all gone....how is that the best situation? It didn't matter if T-MAC stayed or left, they still would have gotten Howard. Man they love to hate T-MAC.

    About MM:
"I can't believe this Motumbo moron wants this fan banned from NBA games. I thought we had freedom of speech in this country. What a joke. If you can't take fan criticism, leave professional sports. Just another reason why Orlando should get rid of the Magic altogether. I mean who goes to NBA games anyway? There is nothing entertaining about basketball. A bunch of thugs running around trying to put a ball in a hoop. Even a monkey could do that...." -- DizOne

Who the heck is this person and why is he still alive. If this guy made comments like this to some of my friends, it would not be good. Another internet hard *ss, what a joke!

Sorry about the long post, just really ticked me off.

Wade - outside shot is inconsistent, turns the ball over too much
Shaq - no game outside of 5 feet, can't make free throws, conditioning bad
Walker - ball-hog, inefficient, no defense
Haslem - limited offensively, good but not shut-down defensively
Williams - horribly inconsistent, not even flair left
Payton - age has caught up to him, too slow to be good defensively
Mourning - limited offensively, age is a question
    Posey - weak mid-range, can't create
    D. Anderson - given up on by the Rockets, makes up injuries
Kapono - bench fodder, not really NBA material
Simien - young and raw, fouls too much
    Doleac - slow
    S. Anderson - bench fodder, age has caught up

What a bunch of morons indeed! I thought Orlando was a happy place with its Disney and all, didn't know it was a low-life center.

I was at the game yesterday

I picked up some ugly seats, so my pics are freakin wack, I'll post em up later

Good News: The team was by my observation playing at 50%...everyone, even the Magic players seem to be uninterested, doing just a little bit to entertain the fans....it was boring as hell....waste of my time really....

Yao...nothing special really...he was just doing what he does best, shots were not going in...he'll be there as soon as the season starts...

TMac...def the best player on the floor, even tho he played just a few minutes he looks like the best player on the floor, he moves smooth, good ball control, I feel for him a little, everyone else is so far behind him, basketball wise...

Battier....I like that dude, I really like him, he is my second choice, that guy understands basketball, his shot is kinda weird, or just the way he posts up to throw the ball, but he is just old school, following the rules of basketball...

Alston...was ok...did what he always does...I think his three point shot improved, he is more balanced....at the halftime he played with the ball around just for the fans (And1 style)

Head...horrrrriiiible.....I can't add much to it...he did not play the last two games, his shot was off last night...

Hayes...he is a warrior, nothing special yesterday...

Novak...runs the floor well...his first two were money, but then he missed...he should be ok...

Padgett...I don't know, you tell me, he is just there, to be there...I don't think he threw the ball once...

Spanoulis...man, this guy made me laugh few times...at the half time, the rockets were doing free throws, so he stands there really close to the basket waiting for a ball, for like a few minutes he did not get one, or he didn't catch one....so Padgett looks at him, catches a ball, smiles and gives it to VSpan, classic.....VSpan can do so much more, you guys just don't know...if he wants to, he will do his crossover dribbling everytime and he will pass by the defender with an ease...he does look a little nervous...his crossover dribbling is crazy fast....his D was decent yesterday...I think JVG likes him a LOT...I expect him to play at least 20 min....he talks a lot to Yao...

Something else I observed is the way the referees officiated the game....horrible! the called some things that were not there...on both sides...Span 8 turnover! no way, they called so much **** on him its not even funny....he did have 4 probably, but most of them were just plain stupid and are correctable....

Lucas....lol, that guy is funny...he is a midget running the floor...his shot was ok, but he always looks like he has extra energy....he needs to cool it down a little, patience is what he needs

Mutombo....hahah...some dude said something to him at halftime...Mutombo freaked out and had to be calmed down....that guy was escoreted by security right away...the whola arena booed at him...hahah

game was pretty much boring....I will buy some better tickets the next time the rox play in orlando...

    peace

Man I was waiting to see the badass pics you promised, but since you gave us a personalized recap I'll let you go without the pics. :)

That one paragraph is a gem. VSpan needs love, folks, and he barely gets it from this team. He is not here just to pack grocery bags for PR stunts. It's not cool treat your rookie European teammate like ****, you freakin' vets. VSpan is my boy, I am glad Yao is taking him under his wing. Padgett shows his caring side, kudos to him too.

i called it when i saw that first clip of VSpan when the Rockets first signed him. that he would be called for traveling a lot, with all of his shuffling and stutter steps, extra steps to the basket. other Clutchfans said that NBA players travel a lot worse, but we're talking about a rookie here. no way he avoids that call.

Yao leaves preseason game with sprained ankle
    October 26, 2006

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Houston Rockets center Yao Ming left a preseason game Thursday night against the Orlando Magic with a sprained right ankle.

The All-Star said the injury was minor, and he sat only as a precaution.

"It's not a big problem," Yao said. "If we had practice tomorrow I could do it."

He had 13 points and 4 rebounds when he was injured after being pushed from behind on a boxout in the second quarter. He scored 11 points during a 15-4 run that helped Houston build a 49-46 halftime lead.
