Brian Grant got cut by the Celtics.....34 yrs old...Big body banger but hasnt played much the past 2 yrs...should we be interested...sign Grant cut Jacobsen since we already have all these guards....not the same player as b4 but still quality off the bench and a BANGER and probably our second best rebounder other than Yao.....what yall think?
Career underachiever and has played limited minutes for some medicore teams in recent years. I would like to think he would be a good reclamation project but at the same time he just got dropped by the Celtics. Still if healty he may be worth a look.
Was'nt he gonna retier?.. anyhow, i love to habve rasta monsta on our team. he is a rebounding machine.
If anything the the opposite is the truth. with his limited offensive skills, he carvedout a pretty nice niche for himself in the league..
He's definately not a career underachiever. No one played harder, and he was a very good player in his prime. His knees and body are just shot at this point.
Good thought in theory, but in reality it's almost like another team saying "the Rockets cut Bob Sura today...worth a look?".
True, calling him a career underachiever is probably a bit harsh. He had some very solid years. I aways thought he was a guy that showed flashes of being a highly productive if not all-star caliber PF. I seem to recall a playoff series or two when he was with Portland when he was all over the place grabing boards and making plays.
Well, he shoots 49% from the field, averages 7.4 rb (career best 10.4rb with Miami 2002-03) and 10.5pts. His career stats http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/2631/career;_ylt=Aq7uK0.1EPNf7BcE8lfeAkCkvLYF I thought he was a much better rebounder. Anyway, the guy plays hard every night and...who knows, the coach wants a "shooting four man" and maybe he's worth a try.
what is wrong with this guy? he didn't play in the preseason or go to the training camp. he is severe injuried?
I recall him playing for a big contract at Portland then later wanting to be traded. The Rockets had some interest in him, but the price was exorbitant. He played with a lot of heart and would give the 2nd and 3rd effort on rebounds. He was a very fine player, but I do not know what he has left. Boston has taken on Kendrick Perkins as a project, so cutting Grant indicates he has little left.
He's washed up and has been little more than a 5 mpg guy for the last three or four years. Jay Williams' body also is not capable of NBA-level performance these days. Evan
Once again, we don't need/want a "banger" unless that banger can also hit open jumpers. Grant was never known for his outside game, therefore Brian Grant, even if healthy would not help our offense. Defensively, as it stands today we'll be top 3 in the league. We don't need defensive help.
i loved brian grant's game when he was in portland. when he first started in miami, i thought his team which included zo, timmy, eddie jones and anthony mason i think, was going to easily kill through the playoffs. they even had pat riley coaching. but it never materialized. anyway, i just dont think a player like brian grant suits todays game, seeing today's rule changes and opponents skillset. he's huge, but not incredibly tall, and has gotten slower. the only player he can defend, theoretically is someone slower than him, but not much taller.
