Juwan Howard a STARTER = Team will underperform
Juwan Howard off the Bench/Part Time player = Serviceable, right where he's belonged for a while.

He'd be getting way overpaid for his production still but (again) they had to take him to get Tmac. Novak would get more boards than Howard only cuz he'd get more minutes, not cuz he's naturally a better rebounder than he is. Im in favor of trading him but now isn't the time for wheeling and dealing get rid of this guy, lets get that guy. The team is coming together nicely now so let em play out a part of the season and see what needs come up later and if someone will take Juwan in a GOOD deal that helps the team.

If Juwon gets traded I would rather it be before the season begins. How many years does his contract still have on it??

Who's dumbed enuf (san Isiah) to take JHO without major compensation? I can't see the Rockets trading him without losing somebody of value...and don't say RYBO....he'll be out of the league before the season ends...We're stuck with this guy until the last year of his contract then he can be a trade asset. Meanwhile he can help us here and there without hurting the team. He only hurts us when he stays on the court longer than he should.

And If we're going to ship him away, not because he's expendable (he's not, he can be used on spots) but because on most teams he's been with..the stars on such team suffers career ending injuries....maybe not but it seems like it...:)

    I think you meant expendable.

    He's not going anywhere.

Won't win till we get rid of him? That's just dumb.

    Go Rockets!

I believe he also made the playoffs with the Washington Bullets in 1997. They gave the Bulls a good fight that year.

Juwan is actually a good deal considering his contract expires soon. There is still value on the monetary side.

Agreed. Chose not to put that in my previous post. Juwan + a draft pick (like Stro + draft pick) or Juwan + Luther Head/Chuck Hayes or something like that would have to be done. Trading in the other team's favor. Juwan by himself isn't fetching anything now. They should have immediately shipped him somewhere else soon as they got him when he still had perceived value. But at least he's not a starter which is the best we can ask for now.

How about a trade involving Juwan + something small for Luol Deng?

Yes - His contract is too large. Plus, JHo's services are now best rendered in the locker room. Other than warming seats on the bench for rotation players, he sets the example of being a great pro who comes to work every day.

The only time I've ever seen him not act like a seasoned pro was last year when he shoved the ball into Mike Jame's face. Mike must have said somethin bout his momma!

was this thread started by ricky ricardo?

"lucy, you got some 'splaining to do"

juwon shouldnt be starting, but he is nice to have as a backup. im sure we will be riding out his contract to the end.

Sonics have less than a week to lockup Ridnour with a contract extension otherwise he'll enter the off-season as a free agent.

Ridnour's reportedly been unhappy about Watson playing the majority of minutes in the 4th qtr.

Now that Sonics ownership has changed hands, management and coaching will be turned over and possibly players moved... Maybe Earl Watson could be had?

If Sonics are looking to cut costs initially Howard has a shorter contract and also throw in a 1st round pick. In theory they could collect enough draft picks for Greg Oden ala Eddie Griffin trade.

With the addition of Watson's D and 3s Rockets would be a near perfect team.

Although JHo is not the player he once was, he's still servicable and can play backup C and PF in certain situations. Not a starter anymore though at this point in his career..

    Veterans Who'll Backslide In '06-07

    by Kelly Dwyer, SI.com

    Juwan Howard

He averaged 12 points and 6.7 rebounds last season but was considered a bit of a weak spot on a team that struggled to put points on the board. With the emergence of Chuck Hayes, along with Shane Battier's ability to play the power forward spot, Howard will likely settle into his rightful role: team leader and scorer in spot minutes off the bench.

    Exactly

Juwon Howard starting power forward= Bad
Juwon Howard coming in with the second unit= good

No one is going to trade for Juwon unless its a salary dump where we're willing to take back another equally bad salary. Besides what happends when Deke or Yao go down for a few games, extended minutes for Chuck Hayes at center? Like it or not we need another legit big man.

I love J-HO, I seem to remember that year we were in the playoffs when J-Ho was out we got beat by the lakers and the sportscasters said if Juwan was healthy and had played in the series the rockets would have won the series, he's a lot better than people give him credit for I think of him as a leader him and deke CAN NOT leave until they retire.

The one ewho needs to leave is Rybo he can't score the only reason we have him is because of his defense, well guys we have Battier for that now so we should unload him and hayes I don't want lucas to leave but I don't want jacobsen to leave either because he was once in the top 10 in 3%, and I think he could get back there.
