That's cool. You certainly don't have to put photos on a nano. For those of us with kids, it's a way of not having to stuff the wallet with the latest shots when they ask if you have photos of them. :)

I hear ya. :) Given that I literally shoot a hundreds photos every month, I think I'd have a hard time figuring out what the hell to put on there anyway!

    Whatever you do,

    buy it refurbished.

It's in perfect condition, and much cheaper.

Yep. This is going to be a received as dumb questions by the majority but... being interested in one..

    I know Ipod's are portable mp3 players, store mp3's..

But, how you get the mp3's is another matter... so.... how does it all work? Do you dl the music via the Ipod itself, have to hook it up to your comp? And, do you have to pay for each mp3? If so, how much? Custom playlists/libraries possible?

What other things are there in an Ipod to play with? Are there add ons that you have to buy aswell? What's the audio quality of one of these? What's the video quality of the videos?

To get the music on your iPod you need a PC, and preferably one with an internet connection.

You need to download iTunes software. That will be the software to load your music with.

There are three main ways to get music.

    1. All those mp3s you downloaded before and are on your hard drive. iTunes will load those on your iPod no problem.
    2. Off of CDs. iTunes will rip and store CD music on you iPod. If you rip the CD using iTunes, it will store it on your iPod with Apple's technology. If you rip the CD using Windows Media or something, you can then just use the MP3s like normal.
    3. Buy music through iTunes. 99cents a song. Music from iTunes is in Apples' proprietery format, so it can only play on PCs with iTunes or an iPod. I'm sure there is some hack software out there that can make it regular MP3, however.

If you don't intend to use the iTunes store, etc...and you want to use your iPod to just load up your mp3's, there are many alternatives. You can also try programs like this:

Anapod, Ephpod, Winamp's iPod plugin, gtkpod, and many, more!
