A pre-season game on ESPN, this must be the first time this year. I saw the games on TNT and NBA TV, but not on ESPN before. It is interesting.

I don't know if this is true anymore, but it use to be that they would protect the local broadcast blacking out the national broadcast.

I think they used to block playoff and finals games except locally for pay perview

it could be blacked out in houston. from what i have seen in the past only tnt and abc buy exclusive rights to their games. if a game is on abc it will not be on any other channel period including local broadcasts. if a game is on tnt it will not be blacked out and there can be local broadcasts of the game. sometimes tnt may buy exclusive rights (such as opening nights)

this has not been the case with espn. if i remember right if a game was on espn it was usually blacked out and you would have to watch the game on the local affiliate. i am not really troubled by this since i live in la but it can be a problem in houston. not too many rocket games in hd this year and espn has a few of them

No, I remember several times where I was having to decide between watching the superior picture of the broadcast on ESPN, but having to listen to the crap announcers, or watch our own announcers on their crappy picture broadcast. argh, WHEN are we going to get our Rox in HD????

I'm going to make a bold prediction. Down 15 at halftime, Bob Sura will change out of his well tailored suit and engineer a remarkable come back. Also Calvin Murphy will do the color commentary for the game, and Rudy T will give a speech at halftime.

by the way does anyone else think that sura looks like the new james bond...just a little?

I recall that I could keep switch the channels between ESPN and FSN or Ch51 to decide which was better last year. I think it will not be blacked out in Houston.
