He wasn't that good b/f so why should their be expectation that he'd be equal or better...Wish him the best, that is life after basketball...
It's funny how the national media rarely talk about how bad of a pick he was after all these. While they'll gladly rip into Darko =\
A broken pelvis usually means the end to any athletic career. Jay Williams has come a long way to even make it back to the NBA training camp roster. I doubt that we will see him in the league again. Instead of trying to make it back to the NBA (which won't happen), Jay Williams should try to make as much money as possible playing in any place in the world. Or he should start thinking about what he could do after basketball.
It's just that Darko was in the draft class of Lebron, Melo, DWade, and Chris Bosh. Jay Williams wasn't in a great class. The next guy picked after him was Mike Dunleavy who hasnt exactly been a superstar either. The only two picks worth a damn in that draft were Yao and Amare Stoudamire. Outside of those two, there wasn't anything extremely noteable.
caron butler, tayshaun prince and boozer were in that draft. granted they are not all-stars but they have made themselves into valuable nba players that every team wants.
Different Jay"son" Williams - he was the former PF for the Nets and the 76ers (I think he played some with the 76ers).
