I've finally been brought to my knees by the evil record companies and I have a horrible urge to buy many cd's very soon. :( I haven't kept up much with the music scene lately so if anyone has some suggestions of great music I could use them. Pretty much anything goes for me as far as types of music so nothing is really out of bounds. Right now I have this playing.

Tupac - Me Against the World
    Tonic - Lemon Parade
    Creed - Human Clay
Ice Cube - War & Peace Vol II
    R Kelly - R.
    Third Eye Blind
Matchbox 20 - Yourself or Someone Like You

Try 311 and The Go-Go's, couple of my favs with new albums out. Although with all of the posts about music I have yet to find anyone with the same taste, so I'll probably find that result here.

Ok, for hip-hop see if you can find some Ultramagnetic MC's. This is a late '80's, early '90's hip-hop group that featured the brilliant Kool Keith. Just get anything you can find by them and thank my later. It has the best beats, really interesting samples and the rapping is awesome. They are one of the most underrated groups of all time, in my opinion.
Other recent favorites: Django Rheinhardt and Neu, but this might not be your speed. Gorillaz is a great choice, as well.

-Elvis, who has downloaded over 100 cds since buying and installing his computer cd burner in June..thanks to those on the Clutch BBS hangout who helped me out in the process

I've been listening to a lot of Placebo lately, "Black Market Music" is an awesome cd. I doubt you'll like it, but hey, it's a music thread...

Sum 41- damn good CD front to back
Staind - badass album with Outside, It's Been Awhile
    Dave Matthews Band- Everyday
Fuel- another CD with a ton of good songs
    Eve 6- good party music
Nelly- great CD to party to

...and some of my personal favorites:
Mandy Moore- love that "in my pocket" song
O-Town: The most underrated boy band around

The latest R.Kelly- TP2.com (whatever the hell that is!) is really good.

For some reason, I've been into Greatest Hits albums a lot recently...

    Aerosmith - Big Ones
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Greatest Hits
    Madonna - Immaculate Collection
Weird Al Boxed Set (excellent liner notes)
    Any 80's collection

    Three more things:

The term "underrated boy band" is a serious oxymoron

Am I the only person in the world that doesn't like Creed?

"Drops of Jupiter" has officially entered the realm of "overplayed"

first throw you whole collection out the car window...

then get some pink floyd and zepplin and rediscover your soul...

than get the new weezer album and some earlier queens of the stone age...and maybe some handsome boy modeling...

CREED SUCKS! I agree w/ Red... throwout the collection.. Floyd/Zeppelin are not bad places to start. How about some Beatles, Santana...

My personal favorite's also include: Phish - A Live One; Radiohead (any and all); Grateful Dead - any Dick's Picks... The Crystal Method is pretty hot- just got into them

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. STP, Fuel, and Ultramagnetic MC's are definitely on my shopping list so far. Others to follow I'm sure.

BTW, I do have some Pink Floyd and it usually just puts me to sleep. I think you have to be on drugs to actually "feel" that sound. ;)

I don't think that's necessarily the case although it does help... :D
