Desert Scar, Crispee, and Pole I don't know how ya'll can drink Guiness. They're so damn think, you need a knife and fork to get through one of them. I couldn't even bring myself to finish one whole can of this pasteurized beer crap. Apparently they don't taste too bad when mixed with Bass Pale Ale to make If you're into Mexican beers Sol, Indio, and Tecate are also good choices not mentioned above. Also, gotta try Jamaican RedStripe -pretty damn good. Nobody's said anything about the cheap "drinking just to get drunk" beer. These include Keystone, Natural "Natie" Light, LoneStar, Old English 40 oz (OE), Mickey's (The Green Grenade), and Schlitz. After about 4 or 5 of these they start tasting like water.
drinking to get drunk hands down has to be icehouse...it has a high alc to volume ratio... but shiner is the best...since i moved to seattle where they dont sell it i brought 5 very large cases of it with me...
1. Newcastle 2. Bass 3. Guiness 4. Sam Adams (NOT the summer stuff... ick) 5. Heineken when I want something paler ... obligatory American microbrewery - Fat Tire Most overrated: Magic Hat... ugh... my roommate loves this stuff, and I can barely drink the swill
I don't like Heineken, a bit too skunky for me. Also, is it true that Guiness has a lower alcohol content then a light beer ? Definitely not a get drunk beer. All of those calories fill you up and less alcohol content ? No thanks.
Actually, if you are in Houston, I think you can get some German draft beers in the Gingerman (in the Rice village), if it still exists. Some beers from the top of my head (I think most of them you can't get in the US) are Warsteiner, Krombacher, Holsten, Bitburger, Becks, Paulaner (wheat beer), Franziskaner (wheat)...there are also lots of local/regional beer brands which are very good, but which I can't recall from the top of my head, plus, they are definitely not available in the US. Right now I am in Copenhagen/Denmark...they have Carlsberg, Tuborg, Faxe...not too bad either. Although I grew up 5 min. from the Belgian border, I don't really know much about Belgian beer...I think that Chimay stuff is from either Belgium or Luxemburg and supposed to be something really special...tried it a long time ago, but don't remember. Am actually going to go out now and have a few of those Danish ones .
Guess I'm a good Anheseur Boy! I prefer my Michelob Light & Bud Light. Only import I really like is LaBatts.
Good God, I'm surrounded by Nancy-boy mocha-latte yuppies! Goddangit, take your imported beers, get in your mid-sized sedan, and high-tail it back to Cypress Oak River Falls Bend or whatever danged subdivision ya live in. If you want, though, you're all invited to come drink Busch with me while the NASCAR races is on this week'nd, too! Goldamn I hope that Jeff Gordon don't win again. I do drink Busch. It's good and after six of them you don't care one way or another how it tastes.
when i was in London i had a lot of Stella and it was damn good. also guiness over in britain but especially ireland is much much better. beers i drink here are bud light on cheep nights and shiner when ive got more money. natty light is what we drink when already past caring what it tastes like
Oh Brian! You make me laugh!!!! I might show my age here, but there was a time in College when $0.99 would buy two 16oz tall boys of Busch! It was easy to make me happy in them days!
BK reminds me of one of the all time best lines in movie making history: "Heineken??!!" "Flck that shlt; Pabst Blue Ribbon!"
I enjoy American beer as much as anyone in the US does. I usually avoid the imported stuff just because I still looking for a job! Back in college I was always broke, so I rarely bought the imported stuff. If I had my way though, I'd mostly drink imports. I'll take (just about) any European or Canadian beer over anything the US or Mexico could produce. Still though, some days I'd just have to get a Bud Light. Such is the way of things. I'm rather spoiled since I've traveled so much. That said, just because I prefer imports doesn't mean I turn up my nose at American beer either. Most of them (imports) tend to be old and stale when they're bought over here; for example, I love Heiniken if I'm abroad, but I hate it over here. Bud Light tends to be my "old stand-by" beer. College produced two truths for me: 1) I will NEVER eat Ramen noodles again and 2) I will NEVER drink Natural Light, Pearl, or Lone Star again. Even if they are free. Okay, maybe if they're free and if I was broke and I was already too drunk to care.
I'm not much of a beer drinker (see other thread), but I will drink a Bud Light or two or three on occasion. BTW, someone help me here...I had a popular Italian beer a few weeks ago, and it was really good. Started with a P...anybody know?
