    The alcohol threads continue...

trust me, I'm not an alcoholic...but all this beer and liquor talk got me thinkin about movies...

What are some of your favorite drinking, drinking related, drunk movies... movies about drunks or drinking. Not movies to drink to... although that could be a thread in itself...

    Anyway back to the topic...

The one movie that stands out for me is Barfly...
    Mickey Rourke flick

    are there others?

I no longer drink, but Leaving Las Vegas kicks ass. I used to imagine going out like that. Good thing I went sober. Animal House is another that comes to mind.

For extracaricular activities, try Up in Smoke or Where the Buffalo Roam. After watching Bill Murray play H. S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in LV sucked.

Leaving Las Vegas...by the time that movie was over, I was convinced Cage really was drinking that much. I've never seen a better portrayal of a drunk.

BARFLY!! One of my all time favorite movies. Written by Charles Bukowski, cmon, can't get any more alcoholic than that!
Mickey Rourke gave probably his finest acting performance...even better than Another 91/2 weeks:rolleyes:
I saw Viva Las Vegas or whatever Nicholas Cages' movie was called, but it don't match up to Barfly. The extent of Cages' character was too overt, too unrealistically unreal, almost a cartoon level of alcoholic. Bukoskis' character was a true nitty gritty nuttin' nice type of character, more believable and sad.
