Hitting a 3 to tie it with 27.6 seconds left and then a 20 footer at the buzzer to beat SA. Hitting another 3 at the buzzer to beat SA. Falling out of bounds after Horry's inbound pass hit the side of the backboard and still hitting a 3 with 1.9 left to beat GS. Hitting the 3 against the knicks in the finals to seal the deal. Damn, Maxwell had to be one of the most clutch shooters ever. But in terms of best shooter ever I would have to give it to the Bull. His stroke was just so sweet.
While The Mad One was a Clutch performer and will be probably be remembered fondly by true Rocket fans, he normally went with the clean-shaven look and not the goatee. On the other hand, notice that pre goatee Bullard was just another 6-10 stiff, but post goatee Matt was "Air" Bull.
Kenny was in the three point contest... and so was clyde (I think) so you need to include those guys. I'd say Bullard was the best hands down. Walt Williams isn't to shabby either.
elie, because i think he was the first person that wore a rubber band on his wrist. and he had a funny shot.
Vernon. Of course it was Vernon. All you had to do was make him angry and you were toast. The combination of his complete disregard for whether or not he was good at shooting them and Rudy T's devotion to the three changed the NBA. He took so many, remember that year he shattered the records for attempts in a year? After that year people starting jacking them up like crazy. Bullard is not one of the best three point shooters in Rockets history by any scope of the imagination, neither is Ellie. They hit open bombs, for sure, but they never crammed threes down people throats like V-max, Kenny or Horry. Threes talked to those guys in thier sleep, Vernon must be impossible to sleep next to; "snore...snore....Mutha F%#ka, sh%!, I'm about to bury this Sh%! ll over you, then what's yo punk bi%$ ass gonna...snore....snore...." I mean, come on.
fromobile,,,,don't forget the headfake from 30 feet out. snore, snore...."taste some of this 30 foot headfake motha F%, ,,, ooo cya....grunt...Oh try to block this **** willya Patty Face Ewing....yo punk,,,watch that backdoor ass..." snore...snore
Three ways to answer this: A) Percentage B) Aesthetics C) Most crucial hit. On C, my votes are 1) Elie (Phoenix '95) 2) Smith (Orlando '95) 3) Cassell (New York '94) 4) Maxwell (New York '94) 5) Horry (San Antonio '95)
Scott Brooks needs to be on that list. He can shoot 3s but he cant do layups, cause I BLOCKED HIM!! My story - Scott Brooks 4 years ago came to Apple Chevrolet and they had Calvin Murphu and Scott there. The lot was filled with about 10 goals. Murhpy was hooping with 3 year old boys on a 2 foot rim, it was hilarious what he was doing. Murphy would dunk on them and trash talk like he was the best. No joke Then Scott Brooks was on another goal, he was with his son who was around 7 or 8 at that time. He wanted to play a game, so I was around the area, ( I just got there) and Scott says to me " Would you like to play a game with us, we need 1 more guy "? So of course i said yes. It was him and his son vs me and one of scotty brooks sons friend. I was 18 at that time, but I was taller than scotty. Game goes by and Scott shoots every shot and goes in. My defense was sorry on him, I was still in aww of playing with an nba scrub. They end up winning the game, but my moment of glory came when scott brooks son threw a bounce pass inside while brooks was coming at me inside, THEN I JUST JUMPED UP AND SWATTED IT AWAY!!!!! It was great, all scotty said was great concentration on the ball.! I can tell me grandkids one day that i blocked Scott Brooks. Ill give him his rematch any day if he wants it. Where are you scott!?
Max was great. He brought alot of fire to the team and hit some pretty BIG shots over the years, but I know that I wasn't the only one out there that screamed "NOOOOOOOO......YEAHHHH" whenever max would raise up for his standard head fake fadeaway half hook three. Whenever Bull shot the ball you knew that baby was CASH MONEY. You were almost shocked when he wouldn't bury it. I think many of you are also overlooking the goatee factor.
