i think tmac or battier should talk to him, bozi needs rox more than rox need him. he's competing PT with a long list of good players: synder/tmac/battier/head/vspan

I heard the same thing on 610 and was shocked. It may be something minor but the way Marc and Rich were talking about it sounded as if they did not know how long he would be gone which scared the hell out of me. It may be nothing, but they made it sound like he's gone with no return date.

Definitely. Hopefully it's all up and up and things will work out. But maybe not.

He was actually 3-4. Even more impressive.

Don't fool yourself. Bonzi would get the the call over Snyder, Head, and VSpan in a New York minute. I don't consider him to exactly be "competing" with TMac and Battier for time, either.

Only a silly person would downplay Bonzi's importance to this team. Yeah, we can be good without him, but let's not pretend that losing him would be no skin off the proverbial back.

if you don't think this a big deal you're a homer. a head case leaves the team for personal reasons, excused or not? remember the last guy who left the team for personal reasons during preseason, he ended shooting at a girlfriend.

For some reason that just seems funny and makes me laugh now to read that when it's written down, even though it really shouldn't....I hope bonzi doesn't keep porno DVD's in his escalade...

they just played a click of an interview with JVG.

both head and wells are excused for personal reasons. no timetable for wells' return. jvg not rushing him. said it was important that he take care of his personal business. jvg doesn't have a "first game mentality" with having to have everyone ready/available for the 1st game of the year.

sounded as though it wasn't a "bad seed" deal and that he'll be back sooner rather than later, although maybe not ready-to-go for the season opener.

hope that is a fair recap and impression from the brief clip.

I was told that Wells and Head had eloped to Vegas to get married this weekend. They will return on November 1st after their Honeymoon in the Bahamas.

Thanks for the recap. It doesn't sounds like anything too bad. Nothing to freak about. Now just hope that he will return soon and get into game shape.

I guess my post was a little negative but this is bad news in the moment. maybe it will end up being nothing. the funny thing is rich lord and mark texaneer just talked about yesterday or the the day before how it wasn't a big deal that Bonzi said he would play sunday and van gundy said he wouldn't if he didin't practice.

I heard the clip of JVG as well. He just said Bonzi needs to take care some stuff before basketball. It sounded like to me that JVG understood Bonzi's situation a felt that he should deal with whatever because it was more important than basketball. Maybe one of his parents passed away? I don' t know but it didn't sound too serious froma team perspective.

It's not a good thing if Bonzi doesn't get any game action at all with the team before the season. it could take him several weeks to get comfortable with his role on the team and learn the offensive & defensive assignments.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's JVG's way of saying, "If you guys want to get playing time and make this thing work, you need to take a few days off and get your heads straight." Remember, we've been hearing JVG's undertone of irritation about Bonzi's absences in the pre-season (justified or not), and we've also heard him say that Head hasn't been doing well in practices (his words exactly in yesterday's Chronicle).

Maybe he feels they're dogging it and he wants to nip it in the bud before the regular season starts. Nothing gets a player's attention more than the threat of losing playing time or being kept out of games entirely. If this is the case, good to do it now.

It really pisses me off when people jump to conclusions without examining facts. It's esy to prejudge. It's more difficult and time consuming to look for the facts. Anybody can speculate.
Let's just wait for Bonzi to make an impression at least through his actions during the season. As far as I am concerned, he is the Pope. I have no evidence to the contrary.

I think some people are over reacting to this news if the team gave him an excused absence, obviously it must have been something that was serious enough to warrant him being absent. You know Van Gundy isn't the type of coach to just let someone get away with missing practices or games for nothing. Bonzi will be fine, and the team will be fine in terms of building chemistry with him.

Do you think that whatever personal problems Bonzi has, that Luther has the same problem? Do you think Luther and Bonzi will end up shooting each other over a girl?

that's absolutely ridiculous, it may be wrong to speculate on this incident but the facts of bonzi wells' history says that he is far from the pope. someone's not examining the facts if they think otherwise.
