WTF, who is this newbie? I've watch Yao since his rookie season and he has gotten better every year.

Missing 3 in a row? Yes even great NBA plays miss shots, or most would avg over 50%. Oh wait, Yao avg over 50%

He is working his way back and the rust is showing. Yet, the newbie things it's the end of the world.

We need Yao and TMac to stay heathly and than the team is scarely.

Novak and VSpan is going to be used more than people realize. GREAT shooting is a rare commodity and as long as Novak comes into a game and shot the ball, he will be used. Right now, I'd rather have Novak play PF than Howard. VSpan is getting better by the game. By reg season, he is the 1st P off the bench. That sure looks that way.

something that I noticed when watching the highlights posted by R2K and its noticeable in the first half since you can see the rockets bench more in that half. But look at every basket, every fast break they run in the first half. You have half the bench or more standing up and cheering for these young guys we have. They are all pumping their fist and encouraging the team on the court on like its a playoff game. Its something I havent seen from the bench since the 05 playoffs.

What does all this mean? I dont know if the team on the court has fully "gelled" just yet since the roster is not fully set, but i am willing to bet that the "gel" time is not going to be as long as people may think. Seeing that bench makes me believe that the team genuinely wants to win and does not care about someone "getting theirs" there are a few plays where they go ballistic when novak shoots the ball. its great to see that from a team during pre-season. and even though a lot of people will say bonzi is going to be a cancer i dont think it will matter really. The was an old proverb my parents told me growing up and i think its applicable here when it comes to surroundings:
put a drop of water in a gallon of milk and it becomes the milk...place a drop of milk in a gallon of water and it becomes the water..
Even if bonzi trys to act up i dont think it will have a negative affect on the team and i more so believe that the team wouldnt allow it.

nov 1 cant come soon enough!

Ummmmmm, what did the team do when Yao was on the floor? Move the ball around in an unbelievable manner until Yao was open underneath and then make some unbelievable passes to him for easy baskets.

All the result of practice. And Novak seemed to score a little bit.

I don't remember the last time the Rockets moved the ball this crisply.

I think I will let Gundy coach and enjoy the show. He seems to know what he wants the team to work on until they get it right. And against the Bucks we got it right!!! We finally seem to have the right mix of talent.

Greenie relax, post less and lurk more.

So... in other words, if Duncan/Shaq/Garnett/Brand/Amare/Nowitzki and co. misses 3 shots in a row... we go away from them for the rest of the quarter? You're making it sound like Yao is forcing shots, which, although I wish he would some times, that is far away from the truth. The idea, is to continue being aggressive, get to the line, and not back away from your game plan. I don't know of any coaches who have players of that caliber would decide to veer away from their best players because the missed 3 shots. You're not talking about missing 20 in a row. Also, 8/21 isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things, its just bad based on Yao's standards. Any night that Iverson/wade/lebron/Kobe shoots 7/25-28, does it mean they should go away from them?????

I am happy that all of you ball players are responding. When "Duncan/Shaq/Garnett/Brand/Amare/Nowitzki and co. misses 3 shots in a row, others contribute.

I like this years Rockets, I just don't believe anyone of the teams associated w/ Duncan/Shaq/Garnett/Brand/Amare/Nowitzki will allow that 4th miss.

That's when the top 2's and 3's take over. They will not be looking at 10-0 before we let him take that 6th shot to get a bucket.

TMAc will then have to do his thing. We have scores, I just believe you will have to get into the flow. Get an offensive rebound or something.

I've been to the games and are frustrated when teams like the Phoenix comes end. The Power game against the speed game is not like Dream was here. Yao is the best center in the league right now, but 5 shots to 1 is not going to get it this year in the West.

Teams like Hornets and Grizzlies, teams we should destroy, will give us fits because of their speed. That is why we need to get others involved first then pound Yao. with the score 6 to 6, that is better than 2-10.

I hope for our sake, we can come out and dominate. When you is in shape for the regular season. But, we have to get everyone involved, not just come down and drop to Yao with no chance of rebounds because we are so spread out. DON'T ACT LIKE OUR ROCKETS HAVE BEEN TO THE FINALS FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS OF THE YAO.

He should be dominant, Just do it. I am out. and for you none hooping trolls, stay fans.

Wrong answer. The first thing we should do is establish Yao. There won't be too many nights, maybe less than 8, the whole season where Yao shoots under 50% from the field. You go to him early and often and force the opponents to commit the fouls or give up the buckets. And then you play off of Yao. That is high percentage bball my friend.

It was a preseason game. It was more about practicing the offense around Yao than actually trying to outscore the opponent. That's all there is to it.

4 Misses is not equivalent to 4 misses in 4 consecutive possessions, that also does not include the times he goes to line because of him powering it in. You take your shots when appropriate, and not force it. I never said anyone should force anything, its just that you don't let these things change your game. Others will contribute, as did last night, when snyder, head and co. started making outside shots. No one is acting as if Yao has been to the finals the last 5 years. When you have a premier big man, you utilize him, that's just fact. Even though we have primarily swingmen, it doesn't mean we have no chance for rebounds, especially with our extremely athletic 2's and 3's. When you spread the floor, it is a lot easier for those guys to rush in from the perimeter to grab those rebounds. Not everything is stagnate.

Against Phoenix. Their offense is obviously geared towards the run and gun. We are not, if we try and replicate their style, we will fail miserably. The best teams always forces the other teams to play by their game. Just because in the past we didn't have the right pieces to play the big man game, doesn't mean it is ineffective when we finally do. In fact, shooting near the basket, prevents fast breaks, which lead to half court sets, diminishing the effectiveness of Phoenix. Their offense is best is when their time per possession is less than 4-5 seconds, meaning a fast break, or the immediate offense following the break.

I understand your concerns, but by no means is Yao someone that forces shots, unless necessary. So I think you should be relieved of your concerns.

You don't get it do you. It was a preaseason game. Yao has been out with no physical activity for about 2 weeks. The regular season is underway, so the purpose of that first quarter was to give Yao as many touches as possible (no matter if he missed or made them) so we can get hime back to shape and in the flow of things. The plan wasn't to win or loose the plan was just to get Yao back in rythm. If this was the regular season then things might had gone differently.

Just look for Rockets2k's threads the day after a game. He'll usually have it ready fairly quickly since he's the man and all.
