In todays (8/16) print edition of USA Today there's a blurb about the Rice deal and the devil himself, speaks. "Should the deal fall through, Anderson's contract would be voided and he would becom a free agent again. That scenario, says Dan Fegan, Anderson's agent, is unlikely. "I don't see that happening," Fegan said. "It could turn into a big deal, but I don't see it. I've been in formed by Rockets personnel that Glen passed team doctors' and outside specialists' examinations. My understanding is the owner (Les Alexander) simply wants more information before giving it his final blessing. I fully expect the deal to be consumated. If it's not, to borrow a quote from Shakespeare, 'Something is rotten in the state of Denmark'" hmmmm... the drama continues... rH
r-fan.... that is NOT the link to the story.. I found this info in the PRINT edition. I searched for an actual link to this story and didn't find one, thus not posting a link. besides if you're gonna be that way about it... its a WEB link and not an EMAIL link... unless you have Fegan's email addy and we can all send him an email! rH
If I'm Moochie, I'm on the phone to Fegan asking him what the hell he's trying to do. In case you've forgotten, I still don't have a contract & would like to play for the Rockets next year. DON'T PISS OFF LES UNTIL MY CONTRACT IS DONE, YOU IDIOT!!! It sure looks like Fegan is putting all the blame on Les, just in case the deal is nixed.
Generally speaking, the longer the delay, the greater the probability of bad news.....I hope the deal gets nixed just to make Fegan squirm w/ his own vomit on his face when he realizes the next dumbest team after the Knicks will only pony up a $15 deal for SA.
While all of you guys are bad mouthing Fegan, you guys should give him his due, because as an agent, he did get his clients more money than they deserved. Players hire agents to represent them and get them the maximum contract, and not to serve the agenda of teams. Fegan has excelled in that respect. -Tariq
Thats exactly why I hate him!! He is ruining the game by getting overpaid contracts!!! He is turning the sport of Basketball into pure business!!! You must not mind paying those outrageous fee's to get a nosebleed seat!
Well Tariq you see ... as fans we tend to look at the game as more heart and soul than anything else. Fegan, whose name you oddly placed in the same sentence with the word "respect", is a pimp who would sell anyone's heart and soul for a single dollar bill. Yes he does sell his pound of flesh to the highest bidder, and yes he does so with a certain consistency of client representation. But then a consistent hardworking pimp although focused and functional ..... is still a pimp.
I still don't understand this hatred towards Fegan. He's an employee of the player and should be doing what the players want. If he's not, and the players aren't men enough to stand up to that, then I don't want them anyway, even if their names are Olajuwon, Anderson, or Norris.
That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. We are placing too much of the blame on Fegan's shoulders, and that's ridiculous. Why I say that? Simple. BEFORE Mo came to Houston, I remember quite well how everyone was scared ****less of dealing with David Falk. Falk was the devil. The dirtiest agent out there. He would screw us the first chance he got so bad that we would never recover. Oh the DRAMA. Oh the HORROR. And YET, time has proven otherwise. Mo NEVER listened to any other offers whatsoever. He just waited patiently while Hakeem made up his mind, and he signed with us as soon as he could. My point? An agent is nothing more and nothing less than a hired gun that fires at his employers will. I'm sure Falk could have been a ROYAL pain if he wanted to, as he certainly isn't becoming a gentle soul in his old age. Fegan is just doing what his clients are requesting of him. Time to start pointing fingers in the right direction and stop thinking that Hakeem, Shandon and Moochie are saints that are being manipulated by an agent that wants a higher pay... nuff said.
Oeilpere, Nice words, but that doesn't betray the fact the Fegan's job is to get the maximum money to his client while the GM of the Rockets job is to get the best players with the money that he has. You and I are probably both employees, and we would certainly switch jobs for better compensation.
