I think it's nice that Van Gundy and Tmac are doing this, but at the same time, I also think that it's sad that they have to resort to this to try to get more fans into the center.

I totally agree but this could be the start in changing toyota center from a library to an ACTUAL basketball arena!

I think fans in the arena have this mindset to watch the game a certain way. The Red Rowdies break this stigma! They do it frickin' well!

So what, 70 tix were bought to import the loudest, most loyal, most die-hard fans in the city of Houston... Loud fans begets a loud arena which begets home court advantage!

home games will have a different ring to them from now on!

i remember when thingswere discussed to change the atmosphere in the TC

and i wasnt a member yet so heres my idea...

have everyone in the building involved with a noisemaker when a certain player scores.

    homemade rainmakers? steve novak

every time he makes a three everyone in the building makes noise with the rainmaker

    just a thought

courtside seats...I wish...we sit in section 114 rows 17 and up. This is the section behind the goal that is near the Rockets bench. We get to see them warm up on our side before the first half, and we get to disrupt the opponents' free throws in the second half...2 home games so far have been interesting...Spurs this Sunday

That's funny, I only see (and smell) hobos at the library.

Concerning the whole KG thing. If I recall, it was the first 10,000 fans into the arena got a coupon for a beer or soda.

I think. I could search it.

Cool idea rookie. I don't know what a homemade rainmaker is, but if it sounds like those South American things that you turn over and they "rain"... 1,000 of those at the same time might sound pretty sweet.

So for this purposes, I'd have 1 hour to try out?

I think that is so awesome that TMAC did something like that, but i find it sad that the players are begging for some home court advantage. Good job for the organization for doing something about, shame on Houston for being such lousy fans. (Of course none of clutchfans :D)

I was sitting on an isle seat and probably five people walked by randomly and told me that we are doing a really good job. It was mostly dudes that look like they came from work sitting closer to the court.

Regardless of how 'sad' it is that they need to resort to this tactic, it is working.

Being a Rowdy is a freaking blast! Despite that they only give us 1 ticket (ie you come by yourself), it is like a fraternity. We all know each other. So no, you aren't coming alone ...you'll have 49 of your closest friends. ;)

We need more CF.net members there. So if you can, definately show up for the tryouts. But be prepared to make a commitment. If you can't make all or 99% of the games, then your tickets will be revoked. That said, we already did a photo shoot with Shane Battier and other cool things will arise later above and beyond being at the games. We may have a chance to do a halftime show or other cool stuff during games.

    Comon' CF.net, come tryout!

Section 114, behind the basket on the Rox bench side, starting at row 17.

Can you tell if the regular fans are getting more into it?

I can hear your chants on tv. It's great.

I think they need to put the new rowdies in a different section to spread it around. Maybe a different player will have his own section or something.

I would become a Rowdie if free beer and food was involved.

I know the fans immediately around us DEFINATELY get more into it. It is like they are given permission to scream and yell. One lady called me down to her section to give me ideas for some new chants. I over heard another guy sitting in the section next to us yelling at his buddy to quit being a P>ssy and stand up and cheer! :) Last game there were 3 or 4 guys sitting right in front of us that actually STARTED several chants and we immediately jumped onboard.

So yes, it definately is contagious for those around us. I don't know if it is spreading because our section is so loud that I can't actually hear much else. ;) But I'm sure during the regular season we'll get people pumped up. Not much to get excited about during preseason games.

As a hint for the Rowdy tryouts #2. Wear red for god sakes! Some people didn't even bother wearing red. Face paint or other 'decoration' will definately help. The better you look the less the judges will focus on what you say. If you don't want to look like an idiot for the tryout, then make a song or chant or routine about 30 seconds long ...preferably something that other people can join in with you (aka crowd participation).

    I hope that helps.

Probably not like I said if its a private party then you should be ok. Most D&B have some private rooms for parties and I am going to say the rockets/t-mac are going to have the auditions in there away from the reg crowd to avoid major disturbances. If that is the case then you should be ok as long as you stay within the rockets private party space.

Best thing for you to do is call the D&B in houston and talk to the manager there about the event and see what they are planning to do and the rules

The Red Rowdies need to start a blog or something. Pics, game day experiences. That would be cool.

    Aesthetics...

Dress for success. Wear red (we ARE the "Red Rowdies"), preferably something Rox related, but not necessarily store bought. Several of the best auditions on Aug. 26th were from people who made their own costumes for the event.

    Face/body paint helps as well.

    Enthusiasm...

This is probably the single most important part of the audition. This section is for energetic, loud, enthusiastic FANATICS. You want to show the judges that you have the energy and motivation to stand up and cheer throughout the entire game like we do.

    Schtick...

Come up with something catchy and memorable. It can be a chant, a cheer, a song, a rap, or anything that will show off your enthusiasm for the Rox. For example, I made up a marching cadence (like the chants that people in boot camp do while marching) with a Rox theme. Most importantly, do something that gets the rest of the crowd involved. A big part of the idea here is to be able to get OTHERS involved.

The look, the feel, the message. That is what you need.

Damn. That is a great idea. I know I'd be refreshing a Red Rowdies Blog constantly.

Good idea. We already have a MySpace page up, but I will be happy to start a blog for us.
