I agree, of course the coach has a role in this. But with our lack of talent, I don't think even Vince Lombardi could coach this team to more than 4 wins this year. I mean, what is he supposed to do? Tell Lewis Sanders to cover TO better? Tell the O-line to block better? Tell Ron Dayne to run for more yards? If you don't have the horses to execute, there's really not a lot of adjustments to make. Does it see like I'm picking on you today? I'm really not. I'm just bored at work.
Justice finally makes some sense...the Texans aren't getting better...they are getting worse. The Williams pick will live in infamy...oh well.
Went to the game yesterday and all I can say is that "Cowboy fans SUCK." Every single one of them is a TO bandwagon fan. When we went up 3-0, I could hear people saying "trade TO" and talking crap about him, but after he scored his TD, the same people were chanting "TO." I know a couple people don't represent everyone, but it seemed like everyone at the game was so classless. The couple behind me were talking $hit to Texan fans the entire game, even some Cowboy fans around me were getting annoyed. The lady was cussing like a sailor even though they were up 30-3, even worse, there was a 8 year old girl sitting right in front of me listening to the whole thing. The game went as expected IMO, but those are some of the rudest fans I have ever met, even more so than OU, Tech, Ohio St., Spurs fans, etc...
you're just much more forgiving of the faces in this franchise than i am. if i were writing the checks, i'd be expecting more.
Honestly, everything but the running game is about where I expected. I fully expected the D to suck hard and the passing game to improve moderately. I didn't expect the O-Line to forget how to run-block, and I thought Dayne would bring us more than this.
i thought they'd be bad. i said 5 wins. they don't look like even a 5 win team right now. it's one thing to lose. it's another to not be in the game.
Yeah, but you're looking at yesterday's blowout. It was their worst performance of the year. Temper that with the other performances, which while bad aren't as bad, and they don't look like yesterday's 2nd half joke. I expected four wins. Five would surprise me.
wait...they've played 5 games, right. they've been beaten by 2 TD's or more 4 of those 5 times. 14 is the lowest margin of defeat in those 4 losses. so it's not just yesterday. frankly, many of the scores have been misleading to the texans favor. they're not in these games.
Dude, I didn't say they looked great in those other games (I said quite the opposite). Yesterday is clearly the worst performance of the year for this team. I really don't see how one can question that.
Who's arguing? I'm just hangin' out at the water cooler talking football. I didn't mean to come across combative.
I thought the game experience was alright in my section. We were loud early on I couldnt believe the Texans were still in the game. All the Texan fans in my section just got loud and we we were high fiving each other even though we were strangers. Cowboy fans were quiet than when the rout was on like expected they were just like "what now" . Thats expected everywhere not a big deal at all. Now walking back to the parking lot was a whole differnt story. I heard atleast a dozen times just on the walk back guys saying " take your F-in butt back to houston" or something like that. That goes a little over the top with me but whatever. Now what was really odd was the drive back to Lubbock. I have a Texan emblem on my car. I stop in Abliene to get some gas and the car behind me exits too. I'm walking to the conveient store and these reds actually drive by me and start talking trash and very vulgar language. I proceed to give them the bird and continue to walk they are still in their truck. They get out of their car, my friends get out of my car back at the gas pump b/c they see this and with these being rather large guys they walk away and drive off. Now thats just stupid. I got no problem with Cowboy fans high fiving me after the game or giving me a pat on the shoulder thats all in fun. But the cussing and following people is just stupid. What's killing me is that its going to be another 8 years until we go back to dallas the NFL needs to fix this. What sums up this weekend for me after the game. I'm talking to some Texan fans next to my car just waiting for the lot to die down. Dallas fans come up to us and more trash talk and walk away. The guy I was talking to yells "win with class I know its hard for you guys to do". Than his buddy says " What do you expect for a city that has both TO and Mark Cuban in it?" Before my experience in Dallas this weekend I was considering moving to Dallas after college b/c i thought it was alright I was there this summer. But after this weekend no way. The city sucks, the people are reds, and I realize that I need my Texans, rockets, astros. And more importantly the good people in Houston.
Everyone at the game was classless, but some Cowboys fans around you were getting annoyed at the people being classless? This logic does not follow. and to rocketfan83: You are seriously not moving to a city because a few people you encountered there talked trash? I am from Houston and I go to school in Dallas (SMU) and I would say the people in Dallas are.... pretty much the same as the people in Houston. I think its hilarious how people act like there is such a big difference between the two areas, but they're are few noticeable differences. I saw far more trash talking and people being rude after the UT/OU game this year than any Cowboys game I have been to. You think that drunk people after a somewhat important (emotionally) game being rude and talking trash is exclusive to Cowboys fans? It sounds exactly like what I experienced after the meeting in 2002 between the boys and texans. Dont take a rididculous sample and make important life decisions based on it. Maybe the fans you met experienced the same thing while they were at the game in houston and sought to return the favor. Maybe the people you met broke up with their girlfriend before the game and got sloshed. Maybe you just notice the 100 a-holes more in the crowd of 50,000 than those who are respectful. Maybe that kind of trash talking goes down in every sports venue in the united states. The point is you are drawing conclusions from a single experience that perhaps doesnt reflect the true situation accurately. This happens when you get emotional.
While the majority of your post is logically sound and I agree, I have to say that being from Houston area and living in Dallas three years I found them wildly different, culturally speaking. Doesn't make Dallas bad, but I *far* prefer Houston. Again, I have to agree that fans there are probably no different in terms of rudeness, drunkenness, or heckling than anywhere else. Now, aside from being realistic and back to our friendly rivalry: DALLAS SUCKS. How DARE you compare the greatest city in the world to that craphole up north!! Go Texans!!! Go Astros!! Go Rockets!!!!
What Kubiak needs to do is change his approach to this team. As much as I hate to admit this, Richard Justice was dead on in what he wrote about yesterday. Kubiak tried to play it safe as if he had a traditional football and ended up getting stomped and disgraced. He doesn't - what he has is a bunch of fragile losers who curl up into a fetal position at the first sign of adversity. If this were Jimmy Johnson, butts would have been kicked out the door in Dallas. It's too comfortable here - they go out every Sunday and stink up the place and then hang their heads, say they're sorry and go out and do it all again. These guys have no fear for their jobs because Kubiak is Mr. Nice Guy so there's no incentive for them to change. This team doesn't need nice - they need a coach who will shove both feet up this team's collective asses.
