In that video around the 20 second mark this guy comes out of no where to hit some other guy on the helmet with the one he is holding in his hand. Everytime I see it I make a noise - "boop!" It reminds me of that Jamie Foxx bit, when he talks about punching LL Cool J at a club, in the middle of a crowd.
This is sickening...How this type of crap can happen in this day and age is crazy...Thugs is too good of a word to describe them...Miami is a joke...
"Hey guys! You better stop that foolishness!! Keep it up and I'm going to throw a flag! That's it! I've had enough! I'm throwing this flag really high! Ok, mister...what do you think about that?"
Cool fight to watch, but terrible if you are a college football fan or just a fan of sports. Coker has zero control of his team, there are no more excuses for the guy. Even if FIU started it, you CANNOT have your players talking $hit after the game. Mr. Mooch- While Miami may not be the "Thug U" like it use to be, they have not "cleaned it up" like you've said.
so it takes a bench clearing brawl to get your players to respond to what is an otherwise mediocre season? i'd hate to see what kind of "hereos" Miami players look up to. they must have a shrine of Stephen Jackson of the Pacers somewhere.
• Arrested and jailed for aggravated battery for attacking his pregnant fiancee with a deadly weapon. • Arrested for violating probation. • Detained for brandishing a handgun and threatening suicide, prompting authorities to check him in to a mental institution. • Did jail time for again violating probation related to the battery charges, when he was arrested for choking his fiancee. His six-month old son was present at the scene. But don't forget that it was also Thomas who was the victim of "The Strip," shown in the video above, in which Alabama's George Teague ran him down and took the ball just as Thomas was about to score a touchdown for Miami in the 1993 Sugar Bowl. Perhaps this is the source of the pent-up rage? http://www.deadspin.com/sports/college-football/back-to-you-in-the-booth-lamar-207778.php Would any university other than Miami hire this guy to be a representative of the athletic department?
It is easy to blame Miami and call them ThugU. But you know that any other team would have probably done the same. Hell I know most of yall would have done the same. If you watch the video, the only people that were not swinging were the ones getting stomped on. Maybe we wouldnt have tried to injure them by stomping on their legs, but we all know that if someone just hit our teammate like that we would all be out there body slamming every FIU player we could get our hands on.
OMG, that color guy just set the civil rights movement back about 50 years. I don't know whether to be sad or laugh my ass off... In defense of Miami, though, that FIU guy was the first player to start throwing punches...
This is not an isolated incident. College football is littered with brawls. As evidence I present some Trojan and Domer thuggery. !971 Brawl - Notre Dame vs USC. Maybe you're right, but I'm guessing that most teams would be ashamed of their actions like that, not celebrating while jumping up and down afterwards. Not only that, they wouldn't have a moron cheerleader in the broadcast booth. I already don't like Miami, mainly for reasons like this. If Lamar Thomas ever calls another game for them, not only will they permanently own the top spot on RM95's least favorite teams, pro or college. And I'll buy a George Teague Crimson Tide throwback jersey. Booyah.
"Now, that's what I'm talking about," Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. "You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing." "I say, why don't they just meet outside in the tunnel after the ball game and get it on some more? You don't come into the OB, baby," Thomas said. "We've had a down couple years but you don't come in here talking smack. Not in our house." http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/cfootball/2060AP_FBC_Miami_Brawl_Telecast.html kind of a funny thing to hear while something like that is going on i guess.
Lamar Thomas got fired http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/storie...ST?SITE=TXHOU&SECTION=SPORTS&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT TV analyst fired over brawl comments By TIM REYNOLDS AP Sports Writer MIAMI (AP) -- Former Miami player Lamar Thomas lost his TV analyst job Monday over comments he made during a sideline-clearing brawl involving the Hurricanes and Florida International. Comcast Sports SouthEast, a regional cable network that hired Thomas before the season, also decided to edit out his comments before the game is replayed later this week. "We were disappointed in the incident that happened on the field and regret the way it was handled in the broadcast booth," CSS general manager Mark Fuhrman said. "We do not support or condone the inappropriate comments made by color analyst Lamar Thomas and have taken the necessary steps to prevent a similar situation from ever occurring again." Thomas made his comments as dozens of Miami and FIU players stormed the Orange Bowl field and fought during the third quarter of their teams' game Saturday night, an incident that led to the suspension of at least 31 players and forced officials from both schools to publicly apologize for the melee. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing." Miami and Florida International have campuses 9 miles apart in Miami-Dade County. It was the first meeting between the two programs, and the Hurricanes went on to win 35-0. As the fight slowed, Thomas' comments continued. "I say, why don't they just meet outside in the tunnel after the ball game and get it on some more? You don't come into the OB, baby," Thomas said. "We've had a down couple years but you don't come in here talking smack. Not in our house." A tape of the fight, including Thomas' comments, was available on the Internet on Sunday and Monday. The game was available for viewing Saturday night on a pay-per-view basis. Thomas was a third-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1993 and spent six seasons in the NFL, three with the Bucs and three with the Miami Dolphins. He has a Gainesville address, but there was no listed telephone number for him in that area. He could not be reached Monday. Fuhrman said CSS consulted with Miami officials before determining what action needed to be taken. Miami recommends on-air personnel for its broadcasts, Fuhrman said.
Thomas should thank the guy who posted the video on You Tube for helping accelerate his firing. Anyone who watches college football and can use the internet has seen the clip at least once there. In the USC ND clip, who are the guys in the long black coats? Kinda scary.
I just remembered that something very similar to this happened in a Grambling vs Praire View game 2 years ago. I can't believe I didn't recall this earlier. http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showthread.php?t=84648 I wonder if there's video of that now. The brawl was just as bad, if not worse, but no one cared. Small schools never make national headlines.
I thought the announcer was the best part of the brawl. I was rolling the whole time but I knew he was gonna get in trouble for his comments. As an ex player he knew exactly what was going through their minds. I'm not saying its right or wrong though.
