Youre in luck buddy. Costco has the best return policy I have ever seen. You dont need any warranty. Just go return it and they will give you a full refund no questions asked.
Possibly some good news for those with 360 problems: http://forums.xbox.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=6916948 Not sure how trustworthy that person is, but this is from one of the mods over at NeoGAF: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=120389
RC, you are my hero. Well, someone I admire at least. Microsoft, once I got past the automatic menu system that kept hanging up on me, confirmed that the repair job was indeed free, and that they would send me a shipping box and prepaid shipping label tomorrow. Patience, and the inability to pay for the repair job in the first place, pays off.
I used to have disc read errors with a PS2. I sent the first one in 3 times to be reapired. On the fourth time they sent me a refurb one. I had that one reapired once, then on that one's second time, they sent me a brand new one. then when that one started with the disc read errors, I told em to go to hell with your piece of **** machines and got an XBox, I've had it for 2 yrs, and it has never once given me 1 problem. Seems a lot of yall are havin issues with the 360s. I think I'll wait another yr or so before I trade up.
I'm going to tell you again, Pack up your xbox 360, drive to your nearest Costco (you don't even need your receipt because thats what membership cards do for you), tell them it doesn't work, and they will give you a FULL REFUND, and whatever you do with the money from there is up to you. So simple. Why have to worry and wait for a refurbished one to arrive??? Buy all your electronics from Costco (except computers) from TV's to digital camera's to DVD players, to projectors. Something better will come along and then you "upgrade." This way you always have whats best in the market without having to take a toll on your wallet!! ITS AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE I bought my 360 from Costco just for that reason alone. I have a build date of 12/05 and I have not had a single problem thus far. I dont even bother with the intercooler. And I am not worried whatsover if anything is to go wrong with the system simply because I can and will return it.
I may do that with the new one I bought while I wait for my repaired one to come back. Also, I wonder if the X-box refund will come to me as I paid $180 for a repair earlier this year with the 3 blinking red lights of death. DD
I just heard some great information. I heard that Microsoft has now extended the warranty on all 360's that were manufactured before 1-1-06. If made before this date the warranty has been extended to 1 year! And supposedly if you had to pay the $129 already and it was manufactured before then you will receive a refund. I had mine fixed and it was made before january. I plan to call them this weekend to confirm this.
Never been to Costco but I've been debating buying a 360 here soon. Is Costco like Sams, where you have to have a membership card to shop there?
LonghornFan: Yup, you need to have a membership to shop at Costco. DaDa: An article I read says that they will reimburse people who have already paid for the repair job. I'd recommend calling them and letting them know though, since I doubt they're going to make a serious effort to find everyone and let them know.
Not trying to dig up an ancient thread. But I'm having alot of problems with my xbox 360. That sh** is straight TRIPPIN! I have that 3 red lights of death problem, flashing of course. Anyway I was wondering what steps I must take to get this problem fixed. It was purchased in late jan, early february so I believe it may have been produced before jan 1st. However I did not purchase any type of warranty. Any help would be great!
I learned my lesson from the first Xbox that came out years ago. The first generations had too many problems so for me it would be worth the wait to get a 360 later on. Let other suffer through the first generations and get yours a couple of months later
I heard that microsoft is replacing it for free. Just call microsoft and they will tell you what to do.
Look on the back of your console and there will be a date. That is the date your console was made on and if it was made BEFORE 1-1-06 you can call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and they will replace it for free. If it is any date after 1-1-06 you are **** out of luck and will have to pay $130.
DO NOT PURCHASE AN XBOX 360!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to get my first one repaired and had the new one for less than 2 months before it died today as well. When I called customer service they told me I would have to pay to have it shipped to the repair center. Considering it is their horribly crappy product that died twice on me I found it unreasonable for me to have to pay for the shipping costs to get it repaired. I also have not been reimbursed the $130 dollars I had to originally pay to get my first one fixed. Just a heads up to anyone thinking of purchasing one.
Just for a little perspective, I went through 3 PS2's in 4 years before finally selling my games and giving up Maybe quality control has improved since then (all were pre-slimed down versions) but who knows.
This must be why I've seen these "cooler unit" aftermarket add-ons for the 360 for sale at places like Sam's, Game Stop, etc... If this is such a problem, why don't they stop production a bit and fix it? Greed. Gotta feed those Gates kids.
