Now that all of our living legends are done or on the shelf it's time to revisit the Visionary topic. Right now, it appears we are simply going through the motions. Each individual player is trying hard so they can continue to get minutes, but there seems to be no definite plan. So, let's revisit the visionary topic so we can figure out what we are after.

    1. Rudy and the Rockets staff must formulate a vision of what kind of basketball they want to play.

As far as the vision itself is concerned, these rash of injuries almost makes it easier to implement. There are no egos to massage. There are no post players to capitulate to until Dream returns. Therefore we shouldn't be playing the same way. Do we run pick and rolls? Do we press? Run fast breaks and quick sets? We need to decide now and commit to it in the longterm.

    2. Evaluate each player on how they fit within the system.

Matt Bullard may be a tremendous three point shooter, but their are some systems he obviously won't survive in. I don't want to pick on Bullard, but he is a good example that these stretch of games are an opportunity to evaluate our future. Just playing the games without a plan won't necessarily help you evaluate each player because they may play well, but it won't be relevant if you aren't running what you intend to run.

    3. Once you pick a vision stick with it

These games could get ugly, but then again we've seen a lot of ugliness this season. The last thing you want to do is go through a rough season for nothing. At the very least you need to play the kind of basketball you will play next year. That way, the guys who you do decide to bring back will be familiar with what we are trying to do.
