[Clutchfans Game thread] Preseason: Rockets v Grizzlies 10/10/2006

I was excited to watch the first half ...man they looked good and everybody was having fun....The second half looked bad...terrible...those people who say it really doesn't matter becasue it was our scrubs, isn't looking at the bigger picture...those scrubs willb e playing valuable minutes for us and our scrubs better be able to matchup with ttheir scrubs....in a long season it comes down to one of these scrubs stepping up their game so i was a little disappointed with 20 pts in the second half....oh well, maybe they will get better....Can't wait for the first home game against Dallas!!!

 

it was a fun first half, i fell asleep before the 4th quarter started.

 

When our rotation is firmed up, it is unlikely that our scrubs would be playing without at least two starters, who would in turn, make each scrub seem so much better!!

 

I don't really think so. The Rockets didn't even have their regular bench players on during the 2nd half. Instead, we were usually looking at 3 out of 5 guys on the court who don't even have guranteed contract/roster spots, let alone any expected minutes. I really don't think we should be that concerned about Haryasz, Azubuike, Padgett, and Jacobsen struggling since they aren't expected to get minutes.

It would be a different story if we are talking about Head, Howard, Hayes, Mutombo, and maybe Bonzi or Snyder struggling in the 2nd half. Those are the guys who might get minutes off the bench... not Haryasz and Azubuike.

those guys who finished the game won't even be on our roster. haryasz, padgett, azubuike, jacobson, and lucas. lucas won't get any PT as a 3rd stringer, the other guys will be cut.

what i saw was our starters dominate. and those weren't our real starters. we didn't have yao or bonzi. then i saw our bench play even in the second querter. deke, billy, novak, and snyder. we didn't even have jho or head to play with our bench.

only the scrubs who will be cut lost the game badly.

 

I'm still a little angry with how openly conducted camp the second half of the game...I was expecting for him to play the rookies with the veteren, for example head, jacobson, novak, lucas one game, then go with v-span, buike, snyder, juwon, and haryasz another or something to those porportions so it still is a competition and not open tryouts. I think Jeff is probably going to play the rooks for another game or so, and then make his decision...It looks like he's trying to test them quickly so he could use the remaining few preseason games to develop chemistry, so I see where he's coming from.

New member here. Glad to know the rockets are looking good. I'm surprised at how people are concerned with the W/L of games preason. As it was noted before. You don't want the players to be too aggressive, otherwise we risk ending up like last year when T-mac strained his back in the beginning and never quite recovered.

I am fine with J Ho in our team, as long as he is not the starter. I truly thought he would be a decent backup.

Much like T-Mac, R2K is already in mid-season form.

 

Remember the Texans lost one game in preseason and now they have won only one in regular season. So please don't judge to hard by win and lost in the preseason. I think we are just tring to find out who will be here and who want in the reg season.
