i just watched the postgame show(had it recorded), someone needs to youtube the jvg interview, it was classic. he was totally fighting off his natural desire to rip into the mess that was the second half. man i love his interviews.

Great post, HI Mana. I agree with most of your observations, though I'm somewhat more enthusiastic about what Battier will do for us.

    Hey everyone,
Here's my overview of the game. I ended up having pretty good seats. V-span made mistakes but overall i liked his style of play. He really does have a nice cross and will get better with the turnovers as he learns the system better
As for the trade, Battier made it apparent we did the right thing. This is not to say the Gay wont b ballin in a couple yrs becuase he def has the talent, but battier surpassed all my expectations of him as far as his role in the offense.
Cant say nething else people havent already about novak. I love him as a pick up. His shot is beauuuutiful and he is basketball smart.
I LOVED seein mac back to his OLD self. His shot seemed fine and he seemed a bit quicker than i remember
Mount did a great job on D
No luther or howard but that was just to see our scrubs, and thats what they were
Azubukie was horrendous. He couldnt do nething besides defend moderatly. No shot, rebound or bball iq. He aired a 3 by like 3 feet. Jacobsen was ok, but no where near as good as novak. JL3 wasnt great but he also wasnt as bad as ever1 says in my opinion. Yea he is our third pt but better than some of the other teams 2nd pt. Padgett is nowhre near where he was when u played for us last. I didnt like the play of haryaz either.
Overall the way our 1st squad dealt with memphis was GREAT. And add bonzis product (i am not countin yao in order to cancel out pau scorin even though yao will do more)
SOOOOOOOO glad rocket season is back

After reading 25 pages, I dont have much to add, my sentiment coincides with the majority

Two surprises - Steve Novak and CHuck Hayes (10 rebounds in 25minutes of play)

beyond that all is expected (yes even tmac's return to oldself)

When can i get the highlights?

Eddie jones (on the Rockets outlook for the season) "It will be pretty good when Yao gets back in there and gives them that dominate presence inside. The kid Novak can really shoot the ball. I think Houston will be back, to be honest with you. They have a lot of weapons."

Can anyone explain what happened in the 2nd half? The Rockets were leading 49 - 37 by the half, scoring 20+ points in the 1st and 2nd quarter but we couldn't even manage double digits in the 3rd and we only managed to make double digits in the 4th.

Did JVG change anything at half time like take T-Mac off for the 2nd half? But I do know with Bonzi and Yao added to this team, we can do alot better this season.

He started an a mostly new cast, and TMac did not play.

It is preseason, he is getting a look at a lot of players....the games don't matter.

Spanoulis is the one that really similar to sura, but definitely inexperienced. Fight Fight and Fight. Maybe his aggressiveness sometimes brings him foul, those attack could influence the confidence of his rivals.

His turnovers are mainly due to the nervousness and bad habit. Those travels are not called in WC but tonight the refrees may be a little bit too strict.

Novak is the man. He can shoot,2pt or 3pt, that's enough for a second round rookie. And he is clever, so even though may be he cannot become a monster pf, he can steadily increase his d and boards.

T-mac is back, the game is not in his level, totally not. He can do what ever he wants.

Alston is also quite good. His shooting selection is improving

Snyder seems to be too nervous. He is so so so athletic!!!! I think he would be the main backup SG behind Wells

John Lucas may come behind VSpan as the 3rd PG.

Someone have to go now. No.52....No.4...I don't want to mention their names. Keeping trying guys, you can finally make it. Wish you good luck

I am curious about the situation of HEAD. Anyone have comments?

VGD let anyone who is under a non-guaranteed contract play.... so....

If rockets still win, I think it's a humiliation for the grizzlies

TMac did not play in the second half and at one point, we had a grand total of 20 DAYS  of NBA experience on the court with VSpan, Lucas, Azubike, Novak, and Haryasz in the game.

Thanks guys for explaining the situation, I now understand what happened in the 2nd half and now have belief in this Rockets side to go quite far this season. I was worried some of our more senior players played in the 2nd half and had a poor performence.

It may just be a meaningless preseason game but I want the Rockets to win all their games so thats why I was a bit worried but if the rookies got a run out, atleast it gave them some valuable minutes on the court.

On the pick and roll, the shooters need to be ready. Billy had some nice passes there that ended up being missed layups.

they bench took too many jumpers. When you are off like that, you have to go to the rack.

The starters looked good. The shooters will be able to get open looks. They will just have to KNOCK THEM DOWN!!!!

Baring any extended injuries, the team will be back to winning.

I don't think winning is all that important in the preseason, particularly the first few games when we are deciding who makes the squad.

The starters came out, played extremely well, and built up as much as a 20 point lead before sitting. IMO, it was a successful game because the starters that were playing looked VERY good and nobody got hurt.

It was a good game. The crew at the end of the game would never all be out there at the same time during the regular season. They would be lucky to see the floor for any real time at all.

I was very pleased with Novak. I was a little dissapointed with V-Span, but he is new and in a new league so it was understandable. I am guessing he will take some time before he really is adjusted.
