I don't know this for a fact, but there have been a number of people calling EB/GS (or getting calls from EB/GS), and apparently they're being told to expect PS3 preorders to begin tomorrow. I believe this started at the IGN message boards, but here's a thread from NeoGAF where a number of people have tried to get confirmation: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123211 Might just be a lot of managers (or forum members) spreading misinformation, and there are some conflicting reports. Still, the timing seems about right, and I'm not sure if that many stores would be giving out inaccurate info. FWIW, I think someone said something about Wii preorders opening up on Friday. True. I haven't checked it out personally, but I imagine those consoles will be Japanese Wiis/PS3s, so you might end up with some problems if you buy a game in the US that is not region free. I think most, or possibly all games for the Wii and PS3 will be region-free, but that might be a legitimate concern...at least until you find a way to hack/mod your console into letting you play those games.
I'm not a fan of people doing that...especially if they try to brag about it. FWIW, someone did say that GS/EB would only allow one PS3 per household, and they'll be checking addresses company-wide (so you can't reserve one at 2 different stores). They also said something about those with the highest pre-order tie-ins having priority over the others. Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounded like buying something else to go along with your PS3. I've only seen one person mention that so far, so take that with a grain of salt. It seems to go against the "first-come, first-serve" thing anyway. Once again?
once again? you must be talking about something other than the xbox1, cause that sure as hell didn't outdo the PS2 from a software sales and user-base standpoint (which is the only thing that matters, not technical specifications)
Nobody called? I just called my 2 local stores and they confirmed the rumor. They didn't specify how many they were getting but they did say it would be limited. I will be there at opening tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up RC.
I wouldnt be surprised if the PS2 is outdoing Xbox360 at this point. I think the xbox360 sold like 4 units in Japan...
The PS2 is outselling the 360. The 360 only outsold it for one month since it has been out IIRC...and that has been in the US, where the 360 is doing the best. I don't know the numbers for Europe and Japan, but I imagine there is quite a gap between monthly PS2 sales and 360 sales. That said, I wouldn't doubt it if the PS2 outsold all consoles this holiday season and possibly beyond that, especially if Sony can afford to price it at $99 sometime early next year. The 360 is actually doing worse in Japan than what the Xbox did in Japan when it launched. I'm guessing that will change quite a bit when Blue Dragon and some of the other RPGs for the 360 comes out though.
For those who want to preorder a Wii, you might want to check this out too. Some people are saying that Wii preorders open up tomorrow as well (though with a $50 down payment instead of $100). I'm less clear on this though, so someone might want to call a local store about that too.
Crap. I thought it was about having better games. I prefer the XBOX games even though I'm thinking about getting a PS2 or PS3 to play God of War. To each his own.

In no way is the game play in PS2 better than the xbox 360. not a chance in hell it even matches the first xbox. games come out faster, and more with ps2's, of course..but the game play in xbox out matches ps2 by a long shot.
to yourself, sure. and that's perfectly fine but explain to me why the PS2 has completely outdone the xbox1 in terms of overall financial business numbers (and that's really an understatement). I mean, you ever thought that maybe your game-playing tastes aren't exactly what everyone else likes?
Well I guess when I'm playing a video game I'm not concerned on how much the company profits or how many sales they make. When I play a game I want the game play to be smooth, graphics to be brilliant; and just have a great time. Guess your views, about the business terms, I couldn't careless about. But your occupation maybe change your views about the topics compared to mine.

Microsoft will out do Sony once again." it sounded like you were talking about it in overall general terms. that's why RC Cola and I questioned you about it. however, if you only meant that you were speaking for yourself, I have no problems with that. but then why would you recommend to everyone to only stay with the 360, when no one knows what a real retail PS3 is like? I mean you don't know for a fact it will suck, nor does anyone else. the only thing we know is that it's expensive as hell
I saying that the performance in the regular Xbox beat out the PS2 in my terms, of having fun (game play, not business). So I recommend sticking with Microsoft and getting the 360..if you are talking in terms of game play. Just a personal opinion of course.
