I was just trying to compete with how you know people (unlike everybody else) who know/knew Olberman the nutjob.
Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. - Hermann Goering
I usually don't respond too much to your posts on this board, because most don't make too much sense. You once posted your thoughts and then whined about not being interested in any other responses because you were sure somebody could find information that contradicted you own ideas. The hilarious thing is that is the very idea of debate, but you weren't interested. It seems that mostly you are interested in building up some kind of reputation as a carefree straight shooter who will tell it like it is even when the 'truth' isn't that pleasant. It is odd when people try hard to be something rather than just being it. Your opinions are seldom informed, and the appoint you appear to be making doesn't make such sense. SWTsig doesn't need to give his own conclusions. He found someone who wrote something that he agreed with. He posted something that mirrored his own thoughts and asked for comments. You didn't comment on what was written, neither did Faos. If you don't like the thread then you are free to stay out. You are also free to post in it, but I don't know why you would since you don't like it. As for you knowing people that work with Keith, congrats! That is great. Man I hope you can name drop some more and impress all. What does who you know have to do with this thread? Olbermann jokes about himself being a pain to work with, and doesn't seem to take it all that seriously. If you want to because you are twice removed from knowing a semi-celebrity then that is your choice.
People who hate Bush like anything that disses Bush. People on this board and plenty of other places have responded to the ridiculous attacks on the president over and over again, and it is only met with more personal insults, tired slogans, and apparently on this board, random song lyrics. About 90 percent of the topics in this so-called "debate & discussion" forum could be truncated very easily by just having everybody post like this: poster #1 : Bush sucks! poster #2: I agree. poster #3: ditto. poster #4: ditto. poster #5: I dissent. poster #6: poster #5 is an idiot/hick/uneducated/fat/smelly/r****ded poster #7: well said. poster #8: ditto. poster #9: random song lyrics poster #10: [continuation of irrelevant argument from different thread] poster #11: OWNED poster #12: ditto. Also Bush sucks.
Usually when people who support Bush address the issues I have seen it responded to with respect. I do lament the lopsided idealogy of the board at present, but even that may be a testimony to Bush, because it wasn't always so lopsided. AS far as the inults go, they go both ways, and I have yet to see a Bush supporter called anything close to what the opposition is called. Only one side calls the others traitors to their country, terrorist sympathizers, and accuses the other side of wanting terrorists to win, or having a favorable opinion of terrorists. The name-calling in this thread started with people calling Keith Olbermann names, and the thread itself names. But none of that should matter. If someone has relevant counter points to make, then I wish they would make them, and let them stand on their own merit.
Speaking of loving Keith... http://www.nypost.com/seven/10092006/gossip/pagesix/pagesix.htm KEITH GETS LOW RATINGS IN BED PrintEmail October 9, 2006 -- A BROWN-haired beauty who claims she had an unsatisfying one-night stand with Keith Olbermann is getting her sweet revenge - she's launched a blog to warn other women about the acerbic MSNBC commentator's boorish bedroom habits. The bitter babe, who calls herself KarmaBites1, says she doesn't want others "to fall into the same trap . . . and I want him to feel some remorse for what he's done . . . He sets his mind on a woman, lures her in, and once he gets what he wants, he refuses to ever speak to them again. And I don't think he understands the damage he's caused." A 30-something office worker of Caribbean descent, KarmaBites1 said she struck up an e-mail friendship with Olbermann, whom she admired, and agreed to fly to New York to meet him last May. She says he came to her hotel room and opened a bottle of Merlot which he "spilled all over." Then, when "sexual activity began [in] less than an hour," Olbermann had difficulty. "I pretended he knew what he was doing," the embittered blogger writes. "I adored the guy. I didn't want him to think he was a dud in bed," so she faked experiencing ecstasy. Next, he piled on excuses as to why he had to leave. "He told me he's an insomniac and that it's hard for him not to sleep in his own bed. He also mentioned he hadn't had 'company' in a while. [He said] he had an early meeting with the Yankees [and] he might be allergic to the pillows in the hotel bed." Six days later, she claims, Olbermann e-mailed her to tell her never to contact him again. "I practically begged him to explain what I did wrong. I told him I deserved some kind of explanation for such a dismissal, but I never heard from him again." She said she's since heard from six other women who say they had brief sexual relationships with Olbermann. She named her blog forthisreliefmuchthanks.blogspot.com , after a line from "Hamlet" she says the perennial bachelor quoted. Olbermann's spokeswoman said she'd get back to us, but didn't.
EDIT: Oh fergit it. This "discussion" forum is lately a complete waste of time. Pissed off people (myself included) vs. people who don't care to listen or even discuss. Hooray for debate. Here, I'll prove my point: How perceptive of you. Perhaps he posted it because he agrees with it (duh). Perhaps you'd like to let us know if you disagree, and if so, why. Or of course, you can continue to ask stupid questions if you like. Whatever.
Wow... that made a newspaper? It isn't even "juicy" gossip... Terrible in bed and won't call some girl back? WTF is that? I'll keep my eyes peeled for the follow up article, Keith Olberman's dog doesn't like him.
Her blog is a little more interesting than the article. I'm wondering if he's put a restraining order on her yet.
Fortunately, this isn't a ridiculous attack, so your scenario doesn't play out. In fact, the very second post on this thread, FB's actually discusses the salient points in the article, a viewpoint I agree with.
To continue with the derailing of the thread... One thing I like about Olbermann is that he knows baseball probably as much as any announcer out there, and appreciates the history of it. I would say he might even surpass Costas in his baseball knowledge and appreciation of its place in history. Keith Olbermann had a great little tribute to Buck O'Neil the other day on his show. It was a great segment that was free of politics.
Fatty posting the phrase "intelligent intellect" made my day. More please. Someone should start a Texas history thread. Fatty usually shines in those.
