"They"........are right. His hooks and crosses take about five seconds to land. Monte Barrett is a chump, I think even a loser like Lamon Brewster would make short work of Valuev, of course that won't happen. Valuev will be spoon-fed chumps willing to take an easy payday in Europe for a few years, then maybe somebody will expose him. Until then.........enjoy the circus freakshow folks.
I say put him in against Andrew Golota, biggest circus ever. That incredible hulk right hand in the 11th was just heinous, it took 5 seconds to wind up and then BOOM he smashed Monte. I'm surprised he didn't fly out of the ring.
I don't think he can be knocked out he has a great chin, but he is slow and any decent heavywieght should out point him.
Well it's hard to KO him because it's hard to get leverage on him unless you're tall....but I do think that Klitschko, being 6-7, has a shot. I wonder if pounding him to the body for 12 rounds would make him quit, he's wide open down there.
I saw most of the rounds after the 6th, and it seemed to me that if Monty had been in better shape, he would have outlasted Value-V (my wife kept calling him "Value Vee"). Monty stood his ground, but it was difficult to keep holding on to such big monument. I got tired of waiting to see a huge ONE-PUNCH knockout of the big guy. I wanted Monty to knock the big guy out... Monty had great heart. I want to see Value-Vee get knocked out. The bigger they are...

i watched the whole fight on hbo and wow, valuev has amazing stamina for a guy this size. he seemed to absorb barrett's punches and just kept going. barrett had amazing heart staying conscious in the 11th round, it's tough that he gave everything and lost.
From the short documentary stuff before the fight, VAluev actually did play basketball at first. Maybe we can indeed sign him to be the 3 rd center as an enforcer type of player. I won't call Valuev a chump though. He beats one of the best contemporary Heavyweight John Ruiz to get his belt. John Ruiz has beaten The Rock Rahman who has beaten Lennox Lewis. So you can make an argument that Ruiz is > Lewis. John Ruiz also beaten named fighters liked Kirk Johnson... Fres Oquendo.. and EVANDER Holyfield. So Ruiz is more real than the real deal. His only recent loss comes from the hand of prime Roy Jones Jr. who is like the greatest in recent history so it takes nothing away from Ruiz to lost to Roy. So, basically Valuev beat the guy who has beaten Rahman (who beats lennox) and Holyfield. Therefore, he is bigger than Lennox and Holyfield.
Ali would have just killed this guy. The state of boxing is pathetic, IMO, and has been for years. Will it ever come back? I used to really be into it. Yes, hippies could be into boxing in the 60's... a great era for boxing.
What about James Toney? And Ruiz won that fight 10,000 Germans booed the decision. Valuev got a gift against Larry Donald as well. He is not the greatest fighter, but it's a circus to watch so I'll keep watching.
come on.. James Toney was on to something that night, some kind of herbal essense. That's why the organization let Ruiz retained his belt. James toney was unnaturally big that night. I have seen Ruiz punch and duck strategy, which was effective against 99% of heavyweights, and he couldn't get it going against toney because James was so big that Ruiz can't put his arms around James... Anyhow, James is a legend. So even if Ruiz did lose to him (which he didn't officially), it doesn't mean much. who has James toney lose to? AGain.. prime roy jones. But Jones jr. is just out of this world at those days. I think those germans were booing norman stone who tried to rob the belt from Valuev.
Perhaps, but I was spoiled by being around one of the greatest eras of heavyweight boxing history. Yes, I admit it... I like watching heavyweight boxing, and have had a hard time getting into watching the "little" guys.
