As much as I should go against it, I will still say Hell Yeah!!! I know he can't defend anything, but it would give us a solid clutch veteran who could play 3 positions. I'd rather him over Lucas, Vspan, Jacobsen, Azubuike. All of who are very unproven, and none of them are known for any type of D.
One thing I know for sure, if Rockets has a lead in the dying minute, Jalen gets the inbound pass, he will protect the ball and sink every single free throw thereafter, 10 out of 10 times. No one else in Rockets can claim that, not even TMac.
My God, Jalen Rose! I am so sorry that I am a rookie, please forgive the dumb rookies. Jalen Rose... yeah he's the answer....sure.
Nobody labelled him as the answer, or savior. Rockets' answer are TMac and Yao, it's decided long time ago. All the discussion here is about valuable role players. Nobody here gave any reason, why Jalen can't contribute if he comes cheap. All this talk about bad chemistry in the locker room, not sure how reliable is that. He's a nice guy in life and does a lot for communities, not many NBA players can claim that. He will criticize other players if they don't work hard. Why not? Did we miss Sura's super talent or fire?
How can you say that he is going to contribute, in this system, night in and night out, at 33 years of age at the same postion that Tmac and Battier play for us right now. No way he can handle the two, and score first pass second mentality doesn't make him a good point guard with two superstars. If we are going to throw away money, put it on an assistant coach that can teach our current role players how to shoot.
i couldn't dissagree more. even at 33 he still can play 3 possitions. he will give us a playoff tested vet, depth at the 1-2-and 3. he could be the go-to guy for the second team. if / when he's available after the knicks buy him out, he would be a great last second pickup for the vet min or even the $2M left from the MLE.
Even at 33, he can still contribute in multiple ways. TMac is not going to play at 1 or 2, and neither is Battier. Jalen can post any guard in the league effectively, both scoring on them and drawing fouls. That's not just scoring, by posting opposing guards up, you take their energy away, and make them less efficient in their own offense. As a vet, he has enough experience to lead the second unit. Even with Yao and TMac on the court, he can still be valuable to drain those open 3s. When you say Jalen can't contribute you have to check who's better than him in Rockets uniform. Alston, Head, KillBill, and KS don't have a chance to stop him one on one.
no buyout for Rose after all. Sucks to be him. Sort of. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/42495/20061005/jalen_rose_to_stay_in_new_york/ Jalen Rose To Stay In New York 5th October, 2006 - 6:12 am New York Daily News - Jalen Rose looks like the odd man out in the Knicks' rotation to everyone but Rose and Isiah Thomas, according to the New York Daily News. Despite the fact that Rose holds an expiring contract and Thomas has a history of trading players in the last year of their deals, Thomas predicted that Rose will finish the season as a Knick
