Not sure if anyone cares a great deal but ESPN is reporting that sources have told the NY Daily News that Torre is out as manger and Piniella is in.

Torre was hired in 1996 and hasn't missed the playoffs since.

I just heard about it too. Aparently the NEW YORK DAILY news has reported this as well. The Astros should go after him

wow. i love it. torre deserves some humbling. only coach in sports that makes me more sick than he does is mike kryzewski. both of those guys think they are larger than the game. i hope he lands on a mediocre team and is exposed for the terrible manager that he is.

If the Yankees decide to get rid of him, I hope he leaves in style; retire. Like him or love him, he's had a ton of success. Just don't want him to go out on a bad cause. I know he's had tons of money, and tons of talent to work with..but I still respect the man.

That's what I was thinking. He always seems to be quite and respectful in the dugout and to the media. Seems like he brings a good atmosphere to the ball club.

steinbrenner is stupid. I mean he is a great owner but he hangs on to cashman who gives out terrible contracts and who can't find free agent pitching talent to save his life.

the yanks had a stellar lineup but they were a regular season team. they went against detroit which had the best ERA in baseball and guess who won....gee...the team with the better pitching wins again.

I thought the yanks would get past the first round but they weren't gonna beat the A's.

torre is the scapegoat, but their lack of pitching killed them. that and the quarter billionaire hitting 8th didn't help either.

I've always hated the Yankees but I've always thought Torre was a good manager. I'd love to have him as our manager. Wonder if Steinbrenner will try to get him to stay with an office job.

If they decide to trash him, I hope he retires. Go out the classy way since he's had so much success. Last thing you want after all those rings is to get the big X.

Joe Torre is not that great. If Phil Garner got the Yankees team to work with he would be a perrenial fixture in the playoffs too. I am very happy that the Yankees lost. It just goes to prove that sick disgusting lineups with a bunch of overpaid sluggers does not win **** In the playoffs. Hopefully the Mets will lose in the LCS too so I dont have to hear about NY crap on ESPN all the time.

    Eat crap Carlo$$$ Beltran.

I have to root for the Tigers now. If the Mets pitching holdings up, and they make it to the big show; the Tigers have the biggest chance of getting the sweep on them. I hate the Mets, I hate the Yankees.

    sorry about the negativity

I have grown to like the Yankees, as Yankee fans are some of the friendliest people I have met. Mets fans on the other hand- I can't say the same.

Yankee fans some of the friendliest people you've met? Is their another sport with the Yankees that I don't know about?

He would have hired Billy Martin, but unfortunately, he is six feet under.
