I'll be in london for the next 3 weeks. I've been here before but haven't done much site seeing. So what do guys think I should definitely see and do.
If you don't want to go to the conventional tourist places, try Covent Garden... a nice area of 19th century buildings adjacent to Russell Square Tube Station (that was also the bomb site in the 2005 terrorist attacks - I was right there two days before that happened) I would rate that along with Leicester Square and Notting Hill as good sites to visit in London The London Eye was a little expensive, but you will get some awsome views of the city
Go to a bookstore and buy/read through a tourist guide and then look into things you find of interest on the internet. There's so many things you can do/see. That said, I loved Camden Market and, of course, the museums are fantabulous.
Hit some of the clubs if they interest you. The Hill, Ummbaba, and Fabric are excellent. London eye is worth going to if you haven't done that. Leicester square and Camden market also great as someone else mentioned. If you're into soccer, the Emirates stadium would be nice. See if you can catch an event at Art Cafe, they do good shows.
You can't go wrong with the more obvious touritst attractions. Hit the Tower of London, London Museum and Tate Modern. Take a boat out to Greenwhich. Madame Tussaud's wax museum is fun and I really enjoyed Harrod's a lot more than I thought I would. Also, check out a list of concerts playing while you are there..somebody pretty damn good will be playing London just about always.
I actually live in London right now, so its a topic close to my heart. Besides the tourist spots, check out the nightlife in the East End, by Shoreditch/Old Street area. If your here during a weekend try the burrough, under the London Bridge Tube station, to try some local food fare. Like another poster said, Camden town market is definitely a must go, however I would try to avoid going during the weekend, that's when the tourist go and it gets pretty crowded. If your up for a stroll, the South Bank walk is pretty nice. If you have a lot of time to kill, this walk can actually take you from the London eye area all the way to Tower Bridge. Also there's the churches; Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, St. Paul and etc. If your into theatre, most of the good ones are here also from Les Mes, Phantom, Wicked, Guys and Dolls, We Will Rock You, and more. Lots to do in London, if your coming from Texas bring a jacket because its already starting to get cold. Just ask if you have any more questions.
Jump on a train and go to Scotland one weekend. Or jump on a different train and check out Paris one weekend. 3 weeks is a pretty long time.
For Nightlife: Bar scene in Soho, clubs like Ministry of Sound, Turnmills and Fabric are all great. If you like Thai food, there's some amazing food at the Churchill Arms in Notting Hill (near the tube station). It's a pub with a Thai restaurant attached. The Camden Town market (on the Northern Line) is great for all sorts of trinkets and such. Same thing with Old Spitalfield's Market in the East London area, great for day trip to that area of town (try the South Asian food in that area). Generic Tourist spots: St. Paul's, the Tate Modern, and the British Museum are all excellent. I lived in London for a while, and it is by far my favorite city in western world.
I'll tell you exactly what to do. See the girl pointing to the camera? Her name is Holly, she's hot. She lives in Chelmsford which is like 30 mins away from London by the subway. Look for a "Queen's Road", just do it FISHER! She's a very nice... But she is hot, lets be honest. Hot and underaged... for some. I send her naked pictures of myself to her on myspace all the time, she likes. On a side note, the one 2nd to the right was kicked off bc she is ummm yea...
Definatly do not go to the London Dungeon! it is probably th stupidest thing i saw there. it is way too long, too hot, and too boring. The entire time I just wanted to leave.
