It's possible he already reinjured his left big toe during the WC, most probably in the last game vs Greece, where he played the one of the worst games in international competitions representing CNT. And for various reasons, he may have kept it to himself to this date, hoping the injury would just go away.

I couldn't agree with you more -- Yao needs to fix the toe nail problem sooner rather than later, and instead of "patching it up," he should fix it for good. Find the best possible podiatrist in the nation/world, not just limit the search in the stinky sweaty H-town.

i say fix it for good too.

either that or create some sort of steal toe sneaker. like a construction boot has. hell it can't make him run any slower.

even if you could protect the toe it still has 300+lbs running on it every night.

just take the damn thing out.

I doubt it. Before training camp started he clearly said he was 100 %. I am starting to doubt our trainers. This team just get too many people injured. I don't know if they are puttting enough attention to issues that can cause injuries. In the case of Yao, it is well known he has problems with his toe, so I am very surprised that they have not had Yao playing with some kind of protection in his shoes.

Dangit, I hope Yao can shake off these injuries. I really hope he doesn't become an injury prone bigman. That kind of thing kills careers.

I can't believe in the world we live in; a world that can put people on the moon and gives us vibrator IPOD add-ons, and no one can build a damn shoe that is comfortable for Yao and protects his toes.

Are we going to have to deal with this EVERY time he gets stepped on?
