    I saw this on Rockets.com......

Full pads: Rockets guard Kirk Snyder couldn't help wondering if he should have been on the Longhorns' football practice field on Wednesday.

After all, the Rockets have been given the gear for it.

During this season's training camp, the Rockets have been wearing a thin layer of padding on their thighs and ribs underneath their practice jerseys.

"I'm wearing what a wide receiver normally wears," Snyder joked
    .

Clutch, if possible can you ask about this. Is this an experiment the team is trying? What is the goal with using the pads?
I don't post much, but have been frequently visited for a long time. It is great to see the progress, respect, and access the site has been given. This is by far the best fan site in all of pro sports!

I'm just guessing, but is it maybe to prevent injuries?

I figure it is to prevent injuries, but this is the first I've heard of basketball players wearing the pads. I've heard about the tights to help with the circulation and help with cramps and injuries. I just hadn't heard about the players wearing pads.

If only there was some pad that would prevent T-Mac from landing awkwardly.

I suspect it's this Hexpad stuff. I saw it advertised in Kicks magazine. Dwayne Wade advertises them.

I think it's a great idea. If it doesn't affect their play, wear them all season.

Maybe they can get some Maxipads so their pee-pees don't hurt. This is the lamest thing ever.

Then again, if it works, they can wear pink leotards for all I care.

JVG would cut you from the team for asking a question like that.

BTW, what is this rectangular thing for in front of my monitor that has a bunch of letters on it  :D

Lame intent of a funny sarcastic remark?

djones asked a legitimate question, and even commented on how this is the greatest fansite in prosports. Then you guys all sarcasitically answer a fellow fan, meanwhile padding on your total posts. Where is the camaraderie?

BTW, I think it's totally fine to wear these pads during practice to prevent unnecessary injuries. But if these are allowed in actual games, then it's going a little overboard. It promotes people being reckless in a supposed non-contact sport. What's next, calls for roughing the passer and stick-checking?
