That's because international referees do not make Star-calls.

Seriously, it is not that difficult to beat the rockets as long as you have the NBA referees calling the games.

    1. Get Yao into foul trouble
    2. Double team Mcgrady and give the surrounding role players a chance to hit/miss their shots
    3. Hand the refs some $$$$

I seriously believe us more than capable of winning it all.
That said, to beat us a team is going to have to both run and play the half court game.Athleticism teams with dribble penetrators and talented bigs(plural). In other words, there's a short list of teams that can even come close to us in the end.Come playoff time, wherever we stand, and barring major injuries,we should be peaking. Our halfcourt game should be unmatched and I fully expect to vanquish the Heat in the finals.

I agree, I like our chances in a seven game series. Phoenix is great during the regular season, but when a team prepares for them, that run-n-gun style doesn't really work in the playoffs. I know that there's a lot of JVG haters out there, but I remember that no one gave us a chance against Dallas in 05, and we outplayed them in almost every game except Game 7. I can't wait to celebrate in June :) :)

Well, as excited as I am on the new Rockets season, Phoenix has a lot of reasons to be cheering, and they will still be very tough to beat.

    Let's see some comparison:

PG: Phoenix with Nash wins hands down
SG: Bonzi has a slight edge over Boris Diaw overall, but Diaw has the edge on 3-ptr
SF: T-Mac is nuff-said (barring injury), although Barbosa is no slouch and can shoot the lights out from downtown
PF: Shawn Marion wins over anyone we can put here (Battier or Howard)
C: Yao has the edge over Amare

But, since this is a team game, not a 1-1 game, I'd say Phoenix has the edge early in the season as their team is mostly intact, while we have 10 new players. Hope we can catch up/exceed late in the season.

That said, can't wait for Nov....

Yao has always owned Amare. In the past we have lacked help at the 4 and haven't had the athleticism or rebounding from our 2's and 3's.We still are wanting at the 4,but Yao has plenty of help this year. Our stiffest challenge should come from Dallas and San Antonio.San Antonio probably doesn't have enough athleticism to play with us and Dallas doesn't have the interior game to get it done against a healthy Rockets team in the playoffs.....Also,I'm not even factoring in the kind of play we're likely to get from a healthy Tracy. The sky's the limit.I suspect we'll be adding a 4 around the deadline too.
    Let's get it on!

OMT...If Yao's foot is good and he builds on last years second half his impact will be exponentially greater. He will DOMINATE.

the way i see us losing games is with the infamous Rocket ability to shut down offensively for long stretches. Serious brain farts.

in years past the majority of Rocks games there has been a stretch where they make bonehead plays and/or can't throw it in the ocean.

If, and its always a big if, we can keep our heads with this new group of guys that we have, we might just be OK.

The Rockets are so much more versatile this year. They can actually go with a small line up that can get out and run. I don't think the track meet approach will work as well anymore. I am thinking that Snyder, Head, VSpan, Battier and Wells can all play multiple positions at a fast pace. I suppose that the best way to beat the Rockets is to take it inside, get Yao in foul trouble, crash the offensive boards and clog the middle and hope McGrady's shooting is off.

If teams try to run against the Rockets, they should take the air out of the ball. Pound it into the paint, abandon any effort at offensive rebounding. No one should have it easy against the Rockets in a half-court setting, so they should do their best to force games to a grinding halt.

two ways that a team can beat us (barring major injuries to our stars)

    If they go unbelivably hot

or if we go unbelivably cold

both of which are small humps

if we play hard day in day out, i seriously dont see a team matching up against us

One type of foul with Yao that makes me cringe is his reach in fouls, If he stops doing that it would be great.

yeah...sometimes it looks like the refs are the 6th man for the opposing team.....hopefully the Rocks will get a lot more respect this year....

Make t-mac run through screens? That's what we have shane for. I'd hate to say it but it's going to be a physical season for shane. I hope he's up for extended hustle minutes.

Why do they have Ryan Bowen as our starting PF. We are looking to win a championship, not the Greg Oden sweepstakes.

because the person who wrote it clearly never saw ryan bowen play

i dont care how much a player hustles

no amount of intangibles can be make up for what he contributes statisticially
