Honestly, with Jeff Van Gundy as coach, you could not get in to practice if you were the Houston Rockets Director of Practices. JVG lets no one in ... which makes even full media access to training camp less eventful. "Access" now is simply talking to players briefly after practice. Under Rudy, you could get in to see some of practice, which was incredible.

good luck to Casey. He's gonna need his wife to be super with the child while he tries to make the cut with the Rocks.

every piece of information helps get me to the new season. thanks Clutch and Jeff, looking forward to more pics, news and notes.

What is this I just heard on SR610 about Bonzi having a strained groin and a swollen lymph node in his groin that could cause him to miss time?

Was this known before we signed him or what? :(

quick google search only turned up that Wells was struggling with a groin at the start of this year during the Kings season and missed some games plus training.

obviously he was feeling ok in the playoffs though.

    a recurrence?

    I said I heard it on SR610.

Matt Jackson said Bonzi missed practice today (I suppose they had one prior to meeting with the media) and that he "could be out for some time". He said it's the same condition he had during the playoffs. Then again if he's averaged 23/12 with it, I don't see how it could be that bad.

He was talking about it matter-of-factly and also like it was already public news.

Was this a hint -- four of the five starters -- and no point guard? Are Alston's days as the starter numbered?

Thanks for all the coverage! Can't wait to read the write-up and check out all of the pics you guys took.

Can't help but feel bad for Rafer though... seems like nobody cares for that other starter :(

I did not hear that about Bonzi, but in reviewing the tape, that seems to be correct. JVG was asked what Bonzi's health situation was exactly and what his timetable was, and he said you would "have to ask Keith [Jones] that" but then joked that he would make Keith unavailable to the media.

There were so many media members in there today and it was so loud, you miss a lot of what is being said in the effort to get it on tape (in other words: holding your arm up there with a tape recorder as long as possible)
