Wild Horses BMoney- Wasn't Under Cover a Jagger solo project? I love that song though and really liked the video.
Every time I hear "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" I'm thrown back in time to Hawaii with my Beatle-banged hair cut. So that would be my choice. Aloha, RR
Playing with Fire Gimme Shelter It may not be one of the all-time best Stones songs, but I will mention "Street Fighting Man" as one of the greats.
keith got jealous of mick and mick writing together and had him booted out/forced him to quit. keith was wasting away on smack and taylor and jagger were writing moonlite mile and sway, which keith didnt like. cant you hear me knocking is all mick taylor too. no coincidence that the best stones albums are the ones with mick taylor. (exile, sticky fingers) but my favorite stones song would probably be sympathy for the devil. sway is a great song too - love that slide guitar solo (mick taylor?). tumbling dice, gimmie shelter, you cant always get what you want.
That would probably be my second choice. Please allow me to introduce myself Im a man of wealth and taste Ive been around for a long, long year Stole many a mans soul and faith And I was round when jesus christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But whats puzzling you Is the nature of my game I stuck around st. petersburg When I saw it was a time for a change Killed the czar and his ministers Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank Held a generals rank When the blitzkrieg raged And the bodies stank Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name, oh yeah Ah, whats puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah I watched with glee While your kings and queens Fought for ten decades For the gods they made I shouted out, Who killed the kennedys? When after all It was you and me Let me please introduce myself Im a man of wealth and taste And I laid traps for troubadours Who get killed before they reached bombay Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah But whats puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah But whats confusing you Is just the nature of my game Just as every cop is a criminal And all the sinners saints As heads is tails Just call me lucifer cause Im in need of some restraint So if you meet me Have some courtesy Have some sympathy, and some taste Use all your well-learned politesse Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, um yeah But whats puzzling you Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down Woo, who Oh yeah, get on down Oh yeah Oh yeah! Tell me baby, whats my name Tell me honey, can ya guess my name Tell me baby, whats my name I tell you one time, youre to blame Ooo, who Ooo, who Ooo, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Oh, yeah Whats me name Tell me, baby, whats my name Tell me, sweetie, whats my name Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Oh, yeah
Sorry Dude. I opened for Mick Taylor at the Palomino in North Hollywood in 1996. I also spent time with him on a couple of other occasions, and I've discussed with him why he quit the Rolling Stones. The reasons you listed for Mick Taylor leaving the Rolling Stones are 100% wrong.
well ive never met any stones so you have me there. i based my opinion off of stuff ive read thru the years in interviews and books ive read (victor bockrus' bio on keith is probably my favorite music-related book along with the miles davis autobio) it seemed like keith was pretty jealous of the mick's work together and him and taylor didnt get along so well. keith liked the idea of not having an official "lead" guitarist, but rather two guitarists who could trade off and support each other and mick was more of a traditional "lead" player. what does taylor himself have to say about it? he had gotten pretty into heroin as well if im not mistaken, so did that contribute to him leaving? and/or the fact that he was screwed out of songwriting credits and royalties? as far as im concerned, its no coincidence that the stones best era was when taylor was in the group.
If you are using Victor Bokris' book to obtain your Stones info, you need to search a little harder. Bokris is a crap writer who deals with sensationalism. There were two main reasons why Mick Taylor quit the Rolling Stones, and probably a bunch of smaller ones: 1. Taylor didn't receive writing credit he felt he deserved. This turned out to be more of a business-related issue than any slight Mick Taylor felt from Jagger & Richards. Keith's "jealousy" had nothing to do with it. Taylor did help write "Moonlight Mile" and "Sway", but when it came to $$ time, he didn't get any writing credit, and therefore didn't get paid. Jagger & Richards are notoriously stingy with their money. 2. Taylor's drug problem. It wasn't a problem with heroin. It was a problem with cocaine. By the time he quit the Stones, he had burned a hole through his septum, and if he would have stayed with them, he would have more than likely followed Brian Jones to an early grave.
Mick Taylor still tours. Mick was a VERY good friend of Jimi Hendrix and jammed with him many many times. Every solo tour he has ever done since Jimi's death he has played a Hendrix song (most of the time it's Red House) during every sow on every tour. Mick toured with Bob Dylan on his 1984 tour. The Dylan CD "Real Live" was recorded on this tour. Excellent guitar work on this CD. I have a bunch of Hendrix bootleg CD's with Mick & Jimi jamming. Jimi's song "Dolly Dagger", which is what he called Mick Jagger, is about a girl (Devon) that Jimi stole from Mick Jagger. The line "Dolly Dagger, she drinks her blood from a jagged edge... " is about an event that happened at a party. "Dolly Dagger" cut himself on a bottle and asked for a bandaid, Devon (Jimi's girl at the time and Mick's ex) said "no need for a bandaid" and proceeded to suck the blood from his cut. Jimi flipped out.
