"Stevie Franchise and Cuttino Mobley will still be as dangerous as last season but with Kelvin Cato and Maurice Taylor as their top frontcourt players - the Rockets will have a hard time next season." I was just wondering if Cato and MoT where getting encouraged by all of these rumors.... u know especially MoT... he's been known to be soft... wouldnt this encouraged him to be a better player... then he got a contract extension wouldnt that want him to be a better player??? And Cato... he is the biggest question mark on this team.. will he be able to fill in for Hakeem... i honestly think he can do it.... hes proved hes a good player at times and he should be even more encouraged with all these trade rumors going on.. and i think they both will come thru this next year... watch out for our team... we gonna be young... with the exception of rice of course.... and gunnin'!!!!!!! look for our front court to be the biggest surprise in the league... -Lelo
Mo Taylor sits brokenheartedly in his living room watching all the different NBA analysts bashing him because he's "soft." "Damn," he mumbles. "I guess everyone thinks I'm a joke. Sh*t, I feel so bad they signed me to that huge contract and I'm not living up to expectations. People are bashing me as bad as Cato!" Immediately he swipes the phone and pushes memory-7, Kelvin Cato's seldom used phone number. "K, you wanna go out and practice?" "Huh?" "Practice. As in...improving our skills by working on our game." "Working??!!" "KELVIN! Damnit don't you feel like you want to earn your contract?" "I try, man. I try." "But you never practice. We both need to prove to the NBA that we, as a frontcourt, can be dominant. "Okay, fine. But only for a couple hours. I'm clubbin' tonight." Mo sighs. "Fine." It actually turns out, that Cato has fun with Mo at their secret practice. He ~God forbid~ blows off his night to keep practicing. They practice 8 hours a day, six days a week until tipoff of the opener. And Rockets fans are blown away as Cato averages a league-leading 5.4 blocks and Mo raises his rebounding average to 10.5. Rockets have the best backcourt and 1 of the best frontcourts in the NBA and go on to knock off the Lakers in 7 games in the WCF's. And they are the 2002 NBA champs. whew! I wish.
Why do people always bash MoT (i know that isnt directly what is going on here but the question remains)? The man is one of the hardest working Rockets and never pretends to be something he isnt. MoT's name should be taken off threads like this. Only Cato should be discussed in this manner.
people bash MoT because he is a power forward who does not know how to rebound. it is not that he doesn't try, he is just unable. But I like ole first quarter Mo, i like him a lot. i'm always very happy to see the ball in his hands (on offense). But if he could, which he cant, he's tried, learn how to rebound the ball. He'd be an allstar, and we'd be lootin in the streets. Or if Cato could ... well you already know about him.
