If I were the Texans, I would have a ring of honor for the past Oilers -- then continue on with the Texans players that will eventually deserve it. Not saying you retire #1, #34, #74, and all those deserving, but couldn't you still put their number and name up in a Texans jersey as a way to honor what they've done for football in the CITY?

I know it's a new franchise and a clean slate or whatever, but if you want to endear the club to the fans, wouldn't it make sense to associate yourself with the city's football past? And at the same time, send a message to Bud that he can't erase Houston's football past...

The most MORONIC thing the NFL is doing is trying to make Nashbillies embrace retired players they never rooted for.

But that's backward Bud for you... Always making dumb decisions...

I feel bad for Moon. What an empty feeling that must have been for him, accepting an award in front of a bunch of people who never even saw him play. I'm sure they were 'golf-clapping' for him, but they didn't care. Why would they care?

He would have gotten a HUGE ovation in Houston.

Was there a clip of it on sportscenter?

I wanted to see the blank look on all the hillbillie faces at halftime.

Why do we keep retiring these jersey numbers? Who are these strange black men they keep bringing out at half time? Man, I got to remind myself to apply more Blue Star ointment when I get home.

    Typical Titans fan

The fact is Bud and the NFL did erase the Houston football past. Texans have made it clear they only want to start new traditions and not look back at the past. That is good and bad. Good as in 20 years we will be retiring Jonathan Wells number. But bad that we do miss out on honoring the old Oilers.

I hate Bud Adams sooo much for this....He could have at least done the same for us as Art Modell did for Clevland...That man has no heart...Nobody in Tenn. gives a **** about the oilers that never played there, so why keep all of OUR records and franchise rights.....I'd LOVE the texans so much more if they could have kept the oiler name....Such a let down...I dont think it will ever be the same......I wanted the Oilers to win a super bowl....If the Texans do it, it just wont be the same :(
