What do you mean they are fake? What would be the point?

I've had quite a bit of success buying stuff on craigslist, I also know quite a bit of people who have bought and sold stuff using the site. It's good because its local, so you can see (in person) what you're buying and make arrangements for payment.

My daughter found an apartment in Manahattan using it. You just have to be careful looking for scams

I almost bought an exercise machine using craigslist. The guy wanted too much money. He was content to let it sit in storage forever.

i scan the music for sale adds daily - desperate people will sell cheap on there - you just have to look for them.

i got a fender princeton chorus guitar amp in perfect condition for $75. they go for about $400 new. i have been using it extensively for about a year now and works great.

When I'm in NYC, its a great place to get concert tickets at the last minute. Surprisingly not many people charge outrageous prices. Some ppl even give their tickets away for free to Yankees, Mets games, etc..

I just bought a brand new-not even-a-scratch snowboard for close to half what it would cost me to buy from a store.

Craiglsist is great for buying and selling merchandise. You can get stuff you're looking for on the cheap locally. No shipping, no ebay-type scams. That part is all good.

What I don't like about it, is the fact that there are so many dishonest ads for services, jobs, etc. My wife applied for some part time jobs. She either got no callback, or some creep would reply asking for her pic! I mean WTF? Why in hell would you need a pic for a freakin receptionist job. We have reported these jerks, but there are probably plenty of people desperate enough to provide pics to these losers.

One woman posted that she got an interview for a admin job, and the "hiring manager" was no more than a creep who was supposedly working out of his house. All he was interested in was what she was wearing. He was telling her how much he loved pantyhose and what not.

Bottom line, the ads are free and should be approached with extreme caution.

I've never bought stuff off of craigslist, but I've sold many things with nothing but positive interactions with people and positive results.

I also hired about half of my aftercare staff through craigslist last year.

I recommend that site to anybody. Love it.
