from you? Yea, you've said quite enough to show your ignorance of the game and Rocket players while demonstrating how much of a pompous ass you can be. Congratulations ignore list.
Since this thread was initially about our Big Three vs./compared with the Bucks Big Three, I'll start with that, and then degenerate into the whole Tim Thomas/EG ect... PG) Steve Francis vs. Sam Cassell...I think that, clearly, any GM in the league would take Francis over Cassell, were they each offered up...Francis' potential and all-around game exceed Cassell's, and he has a chance to become the best PG in the game, something Sam has never been in danger of being...However, I think the same overwhelming majority would take Cassell over Francis if you could have them for only one game/series right now...Maybe even for this entire year/playoffs...While Steve's ceiling is much higher, Sam has already answered questions Steve hasn't even asked yet...Still, all in all, advantage Francis with a big plus the further into the future we get... SG) Ray Allen vs. Mobley...This is, I think, by far the biggest discrepancy...Allen is damn near on a par with Vince Carter/ Kobe Bryant, and is certainly at or above the Paul Pierce level...Were he to play in an offense without 2 other big time scorers, he might very well put up the numbers VC and Kobe do...In addition, he's played big when it's mattered, is a team player, and by all accounts is emerging as the leader of the Bucks despite his age...Mobley, while possesing one of the better first steps in the league, is still very much a hot or cold guy. He could gain consistency, but he hasn't shown that yet. His shot selection can be God-Awful, while that may very well be Allen's strongest suit... SF) Glen Robinson vs. Glen Rice...While I am in no way a fan of Robinson, and agree with whomever it was who stated that he's one of the more over-rated guys in the league, he's still head and shoulders above Rice...When those Cato for Robinson rumours were floating last year, I was not a fan of the idea of getting Robinson, but my arguments against it are substanitialy stronger with respect to Rice. Robinson does have one of the best mid-range games in the NBA, a lost art, and he will add the odd rebound, hustles from time to time, and has adapted his game to fit new teammates and systems fairly seamlessly...He can't defend anyone, and his handle is a little shaky, and his playoff bell has yet to be answered...But Glen Rice is a lot worse...I'm not sure how much you guys got to see him this year, but I live in Toronto, so I saw quite a bit of him, especially the playoffs, and here's what I saw...He is nowhere near the player he was with Charlotte. While his game has always been based on his (excellent) shot, he used to have enough quickness to drive past overplaying defenders or get seperation. Whether he had an injury we don't know about, was just going through the motions because he was unhappy, or has lost a step or three I can't say, but I will say that last year he was as one dimensional a player as you'll see. In fact, during the playoffs, announcers were saying that it might be to Rice's advantage to come off the bench at this stage in his career because were he a starter the game plan to neutralize him would be fairly simple: Play him as tight as possible with no fear that he'll get past you, and almost as little fear that he'll make the right pass...And his secondary attributes (defense, etc.) are at least as bad as Robinson's... In terms of the age thing, what makes Milwaukee's Big Three special is that THEY ARE ALL IN THEIR PRIMES...Houston's backcourt will be around longer than the Bucks' Big Three, but Rice will be the first to go...Were you to rank these players individually, I think it would go like this... 1) Allen 2) Francis 3) Cassell 4) Robinson 5) Mobley 6) Rice My personal opinion is that,as great as Allen is/will be, Francis has the biggest upside. However that's only theoretical at this point... Another concern about Rice that seems to be getting surprisingly little play in here is Rice's attitude. The guy has had/been a problem everywhere he's played. And he's now our most senior significant player...One of the things that I loved about this team last year was, with the exception of Cato, the Rockets played like a team, worked hard, and got along...Which of those applies to Rice? If people were upset with Cato, how much worse will it be when one of our main players has a, let's be genereous, questionable attitude? Talent wise, on paper, I think that the Rockets got the better of this trade. But I really don't like Rice's attitude, I really don't think he fits, and I'm not sure that what we needed to add was a guy whose only contribution will be made by taking a lot of shots away from our younger players... For those who are assuming this will work out because of the abilities of our front office, I would be a little more hesitant. How well did Pippen fit in? Or Shandon? While the Rockets have been exceptional when it comes to evaluating draft talent, either through second rounders like Mobley, Harrington, etc..or by trading to acquire great high draft level talents, their recent record of evaluating how established NBA players will fit into the team has been less encouraging. OK..on to the great Tim Thomas/ Eddie Griffin comparisons..To me, this is a ridiculous comparison if we're talking about this year, or even next...I think it was SF3 who was noting their (remarkable) college/HS similarities...While those were interesting, they are a little beside the point for now...Unless you are using it to suggest that Griffin will have a rookie year similar to Thomas'..To compare Griffin now to Thomas now is unfair...As a one-year college player of remarkable talent, it took Thomas a while to get acclimated to the NBA, and his first experiences in the league showed mostly promise...Flurries of great play in otherwise erratic or immature games...This year he was up for Most Improved Player...Griffin is, in all likelyhood, apt to go through similar growing pains...Without getting into their relative strengths or weaknesses, similarities and differences at full potential, I will say that for now they are years apart... Ok, that's my two cents...I'm not a fan of Milwaukee, and I think Houston will be a better team down the road, but their top players have a distinct advantage over our top players, as a whole, at this point...I will be very happy if, after this year, I have to reverse my opinion...
*sigh* Just personal attacks instead of using facts to back up your arguments. Oh no, not your ignore list!
What's funny, Fobby, is that you just tried to belittle Crisco, after he told you he was putting you on ignore. He never saw your post! LOL
Nah its ok. I wasnt craving his attention. Just found it amusing that instead of coming up with valid points to strengthen his position or refute my statements, he just starts calling me names and puts me on ignore. I said Francis was the team's best rebounder right now which he disagrees to. Good thing I didnt tell him Francis is the team's best scorer right now, or instead of putting me on ignore, he might have tried to track me down with a hitman. *shivers*
