I figured I would take a shot in the dark for any potential remedies. I am in Vegas and my eyes feel dry as hell when my lenses are in. It's a really crappy dry burning sensation. I am screwed since I didn't bring my glasses and I can't see well without my lenses.

I have never had this problem before. I got some eye drops and I am using them frequently and my eyes aren't even dry but I still have that sensation. it sucks because I have no clue what to do. I can tolerate it but it's not fun.

any help would be great, but I think I am SOL.

go to a sams club or walmart that has an optomatrist (sp?) and pay the chump change for a quickie so they will give you a couple sets of disposible contacts to get you through your trip. It's cheaper than you think.

whenever my lenses are bugging me i use that supra cleanse stuff that you drop in your case overnight

it works well, usually protein buildup can make lenses feel dry and rough too soon

maybe even use some enzyme tablets

yeah that's what I was thinking. but it's just odd cause my eyes aren't physically dry. like if I get dehydrated when I am home my eyes and lenses will get dry. right now they are moist but still feel dry and burn.

oh well I should have brought my glasses. and I will try out sams tomorrow and see what they say.

Dude, I had the same exact problem in Vegas once. Stupid dry desert heat was making me want to poke my eyes out.

My wife kept taking pictures, but my eyes were closed in all of them.

what kind of contacts are they? O2 optix? Night and day? Acuvue2? Usually those will have a lot more breathability than other contacts which then could add onto the dryness in your contacts. My suggestion: if the contacts aren't irritating you as much as it is drying your eyes, buy contact rewetting drops and use as directed. If it's like a scratching sensation, take out the contacts and use back up (like eyeglasses) or what not.

ok i just reread your post. well if nothing else is working, i'd suggest take out the contacts, let your eyes rest for a few hours, and put them back in. if that doesn't work, then worst case scenario is just do what voodoo said and go to a walmart and get an exam and ask for contacts that aren't so permeable (like B&L pure vision)

    Is this true?

I recently switched from acuvue 2 to the O2 optix and Ive had a real irritating sensation after about 3-4 hours of use with the o2 optix.. whereas that never happened with the acuvues..

It feels very dry for some reason.. and often things in the air like perfumes or chemicals will irritate my eyes whereas before they did not..

the breathability from the O2 optix is a LOT more than acuvue 2 which is why you can pretty much sleep with O2 optix if you wanted to (although they don't fully endorse it). I had the same sensation as well when I switched to O2 optix.

If you didn't have problems with the acuvue 2's before, try to find an optoemetrist that can prescribe those for you for the time being. I really like the O2 optix over Acuvue 2. Also what kind of solution are you using to clean your lenses? There's been a study that, even AFTER their recall, RENU solution pales in comparison compared to Opti-Free.

I started wearing O2 optix after about 5 years without wearing contacts. At the beginning they irritated my eyes after a few hours, but after a couple weeks I was able to wear them all day without problems. I could never do that with my old contacts.

I wish...i went to get checked out and they told me my corneas were too thin. they said it was borderline but he didn't even want to do PRK.

and on my contacts...i think I just had to get used to the dry air. it's better today...still annoying but better.

did he tell you that if you really wanted to get lasik/PRK done you could just not wear contacts for a period of time (so your cornea gets healthier/thicker)?
