My friend just saw Van Gundy tonight and talked about Bonzi....

He's reporting what his friend told him. If someone I trusted met JVG in a party, and he heard something like that, and I think I'd post it here as well. Maybe he's joking, maybe he's not. It's still worth sharing.

 

It doesn't mean people have to be retaded about it. It is a fact Bonzi wells has not signed yet. The Rockets brass have not announced the deal yet. Bonzi is at a wedding for the weekend because that is more important. Come on the Rockets would have been more than happy to charter a private jet to fly him down yesterday and close the deal and then fly him back anywhere he wanted.

But Bonzi wants to wait till monday. And now there is a report that the deal is falling apart.

Well maybe that is an over excited exageration from Van Gundy or maybe it's something as simple as Bonzi wants to be guaranteed he will start or maybe he wants a TRADE KICKER . It's also possible it could be more serious and this whole report from Bonzi's agent could be a manuever. Yes, maybe Bonzi's agent was growing tired of Charllote's stringing Bonzi along so he said to Bonzi, "Lets say we are going to take the Houston offer. If Charlotte or anyone else wants you than they will have to make us a real offer fast and if they don't we sign with Houston." So now Charlotte is on the phone saying wait a minute will give you so much more money and Miami is on the phone will give you the full MLE. And now Bonzi's agent calls the Rockets and says hey let's hold off this signing. We have to think a bit more. It may not be as devious as that. Bonzi could have genuinely commited to the Rockets but now at the fifth hour he is getting an offer he can't refuse.

I am not saying this is what's happening but I am saying it is believable. And situations with agents and players, believe it or not, have happened like this before. So what's with all the animosity and hysterics. We either have Bonzi or we don't but the Rockets will be contenders no matter what.

All I was saying was that no one should be suprised at the reactions. Whether they are extreme are not, that's another story. Hell, when we get speculative GOOD news, the poster gets trated generally bad until it's confirmed (unless they are 'insiders'), so you new the dogs were gonna come out with something that is potentially bad.

 

What's going on here? Bunch of rookies jumped on a poster willing to share some information he got? I thought you were all Rockets fans, why so harsh on a fellow fan? Any information is welcome. As he said, take it as what it's worth. Take those juvenile attacks somewhere else.

These kind of scoops are one of the things that make our forum the best.Just because it's something we might not want to hear doesn't mean it's not credible.Lay off him and let this play out.Hopefully Bonzi will be signed,sealed,and delivered soon.

 

Calm down brother, ATTACK is a harsh word. Nobody is getting attacked. If you can't take the comments, don't make the post. When I joined, one of the requirements was not to be a YES MAN. No disrespect to any of you as people, just calling bs on the info.

 

Ok, there might be issues that need to be worked out, possible. I dont think it's money. The finacial term is pretty clear, and that's the maximum we can pay. Might be play time or no trade clause. :0

 

They're harsh because nobody likes unsubstantiated rumors (i.e. only a slight bit above bullsh*t), and this one is especially bad since it pours cold water on the excitement caused by the Bonzi signing. I don't blame them at all.

Really is that in the enrollment agreement now. I must have overlooked it. Oh yeah you're right in section 32a it states, "No hateful, sexually explicit or obscene comments and you absolutely positively cannot be a YES MAN!" Oh but wait, you didn't read the whole agreement. It also states in paragraph 67b that, "While being a YES MAN is unacceptable making stupid r****ded comments for the sake of being disagreeable in an effort to pretend not to be a YES MAN is punishable by death or disbarment".

 

If Bonzi screws over the Rockets and their fans by doing a "Boozer" then we don't want him anyway. What worries me is that some of the responses in this thread will discourage other posters from giving inside information in the future. If you are going to be "savaged" by the board, why post? I am against all forms of rudeness on the board, name-calling, unkind remarks, put-downs, etc. They are totally unnecessary. Let's just treat others like we would like to be treated. That makes perfect sense.

 

we dont really know what is going on yet, at least I dont see rockets.com gives any news on wells.

 

Bill Duffy is on Team Yao and was instrumental in getting him into the NBA. He's known as a straight shooting agent with a lot of integrity. I highly doubt Duffy would make the kind of public statement he did above to get a last 2nd deal.

Actually, there is no "report." There is a rumor posted on a bulletin board. Bonzi isn't "waiting." It is just more convenient because the day for official physicals is Monday. Why bother flying all over hell and back when you can just handle it Monday?

As someone else mentioned, Bill Duffy is HIGHLY respected as an agent. He is not going to tell the media this information on the record and then back out.

 

This is like seeing your stock price soar one day and waking up to a nose dive the next day. Even if this info is true I wish I'd never read it.
