Obviously you dont follow the NBA really well. None of your front court players can do what Ervin Johnson does for Bucks. He is a rebounder, shot blocker and and inside presence on defence. He can get more rebounds than Mo Taylor and Cato combined. And before you use Grffin, TMorris to say how good your bench is, let them atleast play 1 month of NBA games first. I am not even go into your Langhi comment. *sigh*
He can get more rebounds than Mo Taylor and Cato combined. Ervin Johnson averaged 7.5 rebounds in the regular season. MoT and Cato combined for 9.5 boards.
lol whatever. Ervin Johnson sucks. Give Cato a starting role and he'll put up similar numbers to EJ. BTW, KT is better than any pf the bucks have. *sigh* a buckfan tryin to rag on budding rookie stars, of which they have none(and a ****ty bench to boot). Prysbillas a steal eh?
Obviously Cassell is going to have that "killer instinct" and take shots, he had Hakeem and Thorpe to fall back on. And before you use Grffin, TMorris to say how good your bench is, let them atleast play 1 month of NBA games first. Sorry these guys DO exist, and they are part our bench and expected to contribute. I don't know why Bucks fans are so bent out of shape that Rocket fans are comparing their team to yours, you would think you would consider it an honor. Especially since the Rockets pounded on Milwaukee. Obviously you dont follow the NBA really well. None of your front court players can do what Ervin Johnson does for Bucks. He is a rebounder, shot blocker and and inside presence on defence. He can get more rebounds than Mo Taylor and Cato combined. Ooops, he only averaged 7.5 rpg. Mo's rebounding is going to go up, hopefully Cato's will as well. I think Cato alone will be better then Ervin Johnson.
Ervin Johnson!?!? This "inside presence" doesn't even want to start for his team. That screams "loser"...
The ironic thing is, Cato and Mo combined aren't that much off of Ervin Johnson shot-blocking wise, we know that Cato is a much better shot-blocker then he is showing, and Cato had a disappointing year and STILL scored more points then Ervin Johnson, Johnson scored a little over 3 ppg, Cato 4.7 rpg. Give Cato some more minutes and assume he is motivated (something Johnson had trouble with in Seattle), then I think Cato can do better then Ervin's 2.2 bpg.
But saying that the reason you would pick Cassell over Steve is because Cassell shows more heart in the playoffs is ridiculous. You could say that you would value experience over overall talent, but we don't know how much "heart" Stevie will show when he gets there this season. Francis doesn't have to defer to Mobley in the clutch; they've both gotten their share of big shots. Francis probably has a bigger percentage in clutch situations, actually.
Since I posted this subject BEFORE the Rice trade actually went through, I'll put in my 2 cents again. Cassell, right now, is bar none the best point guard in the East. If anybody watched the playoffs last year, you noticed how Cassell took on Daryl Armstrong, Baron Davis, Eric Snow and Allen Iverson. NONE of them could stop him even with his FLAP Jacket on. People talked about Iverson's heart, but its nothing compared to Cassell's. He had heart from day one. It was Cassell who took bold shots in his rookie year with the Rockets and a CRITICAL part of Rockets history. Someone posted that he had Hakeem and Otis to fall back on. Yeah, but who took the big shots? Our GUARDS, Vernon, Kenny, and Sam. I was Vernon who sparked the Rockets to Clutch City. It was Sam who took the big shot against the Knicks and helped beat of the Suns also. By the way Cassell, still is playing well with out Hakeem. What idiot Rockets fan didn't show repsect to Cassell? Hey how about if Sam wasn't drafted and we had Scotty Brooks taking those shots in the playoffs? how about Jamerson? how about Brent Price? It was a miracle that we got Francis, because after Cassell, we stunk at the PG position. Obviously, Francis is a better player than Cassell. He has more ability than Cassell or even Allen Iverson. But Cassell and Iverson lead their teams to Conference Finals. Cassell has ALREADY proven himself as a money player (So has Robert Horry for you Horry haters). I hope that Francis will have the heart and confidence that Cassell has to bring the Rockets to the promise land. Francis has the potential this year to be the best guard in the NBA. Hope he can take that pressure. I like Cuttino. I like his game, I like his mentality. But he's not as good as Ray Allen. Ray Allen is Jesus Shuttlesworth. I'm still pissed that Big Dog didn't make that 5 foot jumper to beat the Sixers. He's still unclutch. Glen Rice is non clutch player either. I hope we don't pass the ball to him for game winning situations. But I'll give him a chance as a Rocket. Who knows? maybe he'll play really well as a Rocket. but as a person, he's not as likable as Rockets who played that position before him at that position (bullard, horry, mario elie). Rockets will shock the Lakers this year in the playoffs. Remember this!
back to the Bucks, it is silly to argue that the Rockets are a superior team to them right now. yes, we killed them in the regular season last year, but look at the playoffs...and yes, the east was much, much softer than the west, but those guys played damn well and we didn't play at all. i'd say that us slamming them in the regular season is a sign of things to come, but are we there yet? nope.
I guess Mo called you up and said that his rebounding is gonna go up this year. Oh, wait, maybe he was just pretending to be an awful rebounder for the last 2 years for a new contract. Noq that he has a contract he can laugh at the Rockets management for I am sure he will come out of the telephone booth as an awesome rebounder he always was. That makes sense. Why dont more players try this strategy to undermine their talent to get big contarcts?
No, I am saying I value a clutch playoff performer in Casell over a yet to prove anything in playoff player in Francis. I wil give you an example. Cliff Robinson has an insane number of playoff games under his experience but the guy is a playoff choker. His stats are all regular season. I am not saying Francis is Robinson. Just trying to make a point that you cant automatically assume that the guy will be clutch just because of his talent and great regular season numbers. Defense goes up another notch in playoffs, your first and second option is taken away.
I think the addition of Glen Rice will be very good for the Rockets in the short term. His shooting ability should help steve and cutino ability to make plays, which in turn equals more wins!
So did Kenny Smith and Scotty Brooks. I dont think any of the Rockets fans will consider them clutch. Casell has been great in playoffs no matter what team he has played for. The guy gets up for big games. Something you cant teach. Either the player has it or doesnt. Same thing with Robert Horry. The guy comes to play in the big games and makes the plays when it counts, be it critical steal, block, rebound or 3 pointers. Horry is clutch. There are a lot more talented small forward and PF than Horry but when it comes to meanigful playoff games a lot of teams would love to have him on their roster.
I am a bucks fan? Did I ever mention that anywhere? Sorry, but I am a Rocktes fan. Have followed Rockets for over 12 years. But I am not a delusional Rockets fan and will not succumb to off-season hype. I am not a Rocket fan who will oppose to the Glen Rice deal and as soon as we get him, try to make up excuses as to how good he really is and how he can help us. I am a Rockets fan but a realistic one. Right now Rockets have no inside presense whatsoever. When my team's best rebounder is a point guard, I have a lot to be worried about. Griffin is a nice talent but to put the pressure on a 19 year old to have an impact im his first season in the NBA is foolishness. Even Kobe Bryant sucked the first couple of seasons in NBA and let me assure you right now, Grffin isnt Kobe Bryant.
Existing and being expected to contribute has nothing to do with it. Same was expected out of Bryce Drew. I can say I expect 12 rebounds and 4 blocks from Cato every game. Is my expectation unrealistic? Hardly. Is it going to happen? Unlikely. Grffin and TMorris are rookies. Let them play 10 games in the regular season, let alone an entire season before making great expectations from them. I am not a Bucks fan. I guess if I dont blindly support and defend the Rockets I am not a Rockets fan. *sigh* and here I was following the Rockets for past 12 years without anything to show for.
