The Rockets released the local TV schedule today. Vast majority of the games will be on FSN-Houston, with the rest on KNWS. The only times when there is no local TV coverage is when the Rockets are on TNT or ABC.

There are only half-a-dozen or so games scheduled to be broadcast on NBATV besides the usual suspects.

    What 'bout NBALP?

What are those "-"s under the National TV column supposed to be?

it will be my first time getting nba lp this year but from what i have experience in the past with the free sneak weeks they have is that they generally will broadcast one of the local feeds. for example the utah game on nov 2 they will either show fsnsw feed or the local utah feed. i hope over the course of the season more fsn/houston feeds will be shown for the rockets.

What i am unsure is that I ordered the multi sports package with dish network which includes FSN SW, will i be able to see rocket games on that or will they be blacked out? I live in LA btw.

also does anyone know if LP will show all the pre-season games?

Well since you order the multi sports package, I am pretty sure the Rockets games will be shown in one of those programs should there be conflicts. Have no worries.

From my last year's experience, LP does NOT show pre-season games. It starts on Day 1 of the official NBA season.

Great another year of crap quality Basketball games... Why can't we be like the Yankees and have every game in HD!

    Just a couple notes...

FSSW covers only a specific area for each team. Those in Louisiana will likely see Hornets games while those in the hill country (Austin, etc) will see the Spurs. Same for Dallas or wherever. Those markets determine who is shown there.

The Rockets have to have some games on KNWS because there is not another legit station in Houston that will give up network programming for games. The Astros are in the exact same boat. While the Rockets used to be on channel 20, that was before UPN took off with programming of its own and now that it is the CW, there is no chance they are going to suspend network programming for regular season basketball. The ratings are just better for their own shows.

Not all the games can be shown on Fox due to Fox restrictions with other Fox Sports affiliates. Then there are the deals with TNT and ESPN that creates local blackouts.

The reason we can't have something like the Yankees is because NO ONE has something like MSG. Only the Braves and Cubs are remotely close. The organizations in NYC own the station so they can do what they want. The Rockets and Astros were going to have a local Houston sports network, but the ended up in a suit with FSSW and, ultimately, got a better deal to stay with Fox.

Frankly, we're lucky we get all the games televised. Up until only recently, we were one of the few teams that guaranteed that every year. I believe there are still a handful of teams that don't have a feed for every game.

Last year I installed an HDTV atenna and got the feed over-the-air rather than from Time Warner. Surprisingly, KNWS was perfect quality coming from a standard antena (obviously it isn't in hi-def). It was only Time Warner that butchers the station.

I know some of the astros games on FSN were being broadcasted in HD. Does anyone know if the Rockets games will be the same? That would be grrrrrrrrrrrreat!

most local stations have a digital over the air feed which cable/sat do not get. its lame but they dont. even if the station does not broadcast in HD the quality of over the air digital is better because its coming from a local. direct source. over here in LA i used to get channel 5 (at the the the wb) in HD with my antenna but did not with dish or cable. hopefully if you have a built in tuner u can just grab an antenna and use that for locals

Interesting. Well, buy a $10 antenna from Radio Shack and use your standard TV tuner. I'd bet KNWS will be better than using Dish or cable.

In my experience using TimeWarner, there were probably two games last season that were completely unwatchable. I finally had to turn off the game altogether. I was getting Chanel 2 audio with KNWS video and Chanel 2 video was ghosting in as well.

This season, none of that. Channel 51 is perfect with my external antena.

We need a superstation based here in houston to show nationwide it would be similar to wgn and the rockets could show some games on there.

The annoying thing is when Rockets games are on NBATV, and we don't have a choice to watch those NBATV broadcasts in HD (since that channel is blacked-out). Hopefully for at least those games they make the HD version available.

I also watched it on over air digital TV but there camera quality is still not that great. The signal is clear but the resolution is poor.
