ARGH ENOUGH ALREADY. I can't even remember who the ad is for, I just know it's annoying as hell. This has been my useless thread start of the month. I'll be back next month with something... Edit: As if on queue, it plays for a 2nd time in the same commercial break. AC Collins something or something. :| The volume on the ad is pretty loud too compared to other ads/programming.
I was JUST b****ing about this annoying commercial and the loudness of the mess. Now they're playing it almost every break during the 'Stros game and LonghornFan is getting ANGRY! DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE!!
Well, you guys have mentioned them to people that weren't thinking about them. Maybe it will work for them.
I'm surprised Miguel remembered the company the commercial was for, because I didn't. All I remembered was the "TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS" nonsense because it's so annoying.
If I were in the market for a Ford, I would not buy from the place just because of the chit commercial. Double swear it.
I was making this thread after the first showing of the ad, when 30 seconds later...the same ad came on AGAIN.
It's not what the commercial says, but that you remember their name. Gallery Furniture had some of the stupidest commercials when they started out with Jim McInvale doing his low-budget jump next to Paul Boesch (lol) on Houston Wrestling. Everybody poked fun at McInvale for his cheezy commercials and his stupid slogan "Gallery Furniture really will... save... you... money... (jump)". The rest is history... I've always thought the first thing any good ad should do is make people think about the company or at least ask the question "who was that ad for?". I still remember Westside Cheverolet's old commercial jingle from a decade or more ago : Westside Cheverolet, Katy Freeway, Peak Road exit, Houston. That one jingle gave you the name and location of the place. Here it is 1-2 decades later and I still remember that damn place. I couldn't tell you the name of another Chevy dealership in Houston. Of course I don't think Westside Cheverolet is still around, but that's another story...
*DoD drives up to Peak Road exit and sees no dealership and cries* It's Grand Parkway ...unless Peak Road was the exit before GPW was built...
So it seems Westside Chevrolet is still around... wow. And it's spelled Peek Road - my bad. Aaaand... according to Google, Peek Rd. is Grand Parkway for that segment where it crosses Katy Freeway... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=23001+katy+fwy,+katy,+tx&ie=UTF8&z=16&om=1 So, no cryin' homey...
Hey! You remember that commercial! I believe it came out in 1990 Westside Chevrolet! Katy Freeway! Peek Road Exit! Houston!
Exactly. I've gotten to where I mute all commercial breaks, just because most commercials annoy the crap out of me. If not because they are outright annoying, then because I will watch it and think to myself, "I could have written a commercial 100x better than that one." Sure, I probably miss some funny ones on occasion, but I STILL haven't heard this TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS commercial Mig is complaining about. And I consider that a win for Team Raven.
I love my DVR, but it will never get the praise it deserves until they add the "ffwd live TV" option.
Luckily I don't live there so I don't have to see it. Instead I get to see our local truck dealers offering free shotguns to anybody who buys a new truck from them. Hicks.....
