*PLOINK* (The sound of RaptorsDynasty & other trolls falling into my ignore list) I'm beginning to warm up to this new BBS format...
Yeah, but fox had a guy named shaq guarding the paint. Horace grant was a good position defender and fox has always been known as a good defender. Shaq was only 3rd in the league in blocks in case fox got beat.
Hmmm... Would this have anything to do with the fact that Mobley takes more layups and mid-range shots than Rice? Or maybe it has to do with Rice taking more 3 pt shot attempts than Mobley?
Rice's FG% was at its highest when he was THE MAN in Charlotte... Why? Because he was able to demand the ball in the low post, he used to be a great postup player too... Since his days in Charlotte, he is now a long range jump shooter... Now, it doesn't take a Rocket scientist (no pun intended) to realize that postup shots are more likely to go in than 3 pt shots... It's just proof that in basketball, stats don't really tell half the story, unless you actually sat down and analyzed WHY in fact the stats are what they are... And simply put, Rice's role change over the last 5 years is the main reason WHY his numbers are down...
Rap Da Nasty has a point. Like it or not, Rice is past his prime. Since stats are only an indicator, a tool if you will, they cannot be regarded as the ultimate truth. History has shown us, that people can make a comeback against all odds. Even Da Nasty hopes this is true. Dream and Rice are both poised to take advange of a new opportunity. Who will make the most of it? My biggest fear, is that RT's own words will come back to haunt him. "Never underestimate the heart of a Champion." I know pieces of the puzzle, roles to play, chemistry, statistics, yada, yada, yada. Of the two, who do you think/feel is a true Champion?
And the TREND CONTINUES!!!!!!!!! 96-97 Charlotte 26.8 ppg 47% 3pt 97-98 Charlotte 22.3 ppg 43.3% 3pt 98-99 Lakers 17.5 ppg 39.3% 3pt 99-00 Lakers 15.9 ppg 36.7% 3pt 00-01 Knicks 12 ppg. 38.9% 3pt 01-02 Rockets 8.9 ppg, 22.5 % 3 pt Sorry guys, when you factor in Glen Rice's matador, revolving door defense (made Desmond Mason look like the best small forward in the NBA last night), Rice just may be the worst starting SF in the NBA. The fact that the Rockets traded for this washed up has-been and his $10 Million dollar a year joke of a contract is the stupidest move in Rockets history. Is there honestly a more overpaid player in the NBA than Rice? Stuck with this bum for 2 3/4 more years. OUCH!!!!!!!!!! I was WAY WAY WAY too kind to Glen "Fried" Rice when I called him a black Matt Bullard. At least Bullard could shoot. Rice = Bullard WITHOUT a jumper. Bring back Buck Johnson!!!!!!!!!
Nice to see you, back there trol...I mean RaptorsDynasty! You've been gone for a long time! Have you been hiding out with Flutie? That juggernaut known as the Raptors are really tearing up the Eastern Conference, aren't they? Feel free to be added to everyone's ignore list, now.
Well if it isn't our favorite troll RaptorDynasty. Now exactly what numbers are Hakeem putting up? We'll see at the end of the year what Rice is putting up troll, now why don't you worry about your slow, old, unathletic Raptors team with no upside or a future. Because Dream isn't making the impact you thought he would isn't he? His stats are dropping to you know. And you have him for 3 years to, did you know that troll? And other then Vince Carter who do you have? Antonio Davis is coming back to reality after a career year. I'd worry about my own team troll because there's no way you're getting out of the East.
A couple of thoughts: a) the Raptor's winning/losing/age/issues aren't really relevant to this thread. Interestingly one's user name apparently becomes a way to defray the truth...anyway, I digress... b) Watching glen last night actually really made me cringe. His defense is just way too much of a liability. Add a jumper that isn't going anywhere and boom: you have a bench player or worse. I know all of us are hoping he returns to some form, but it just doesn't seem like its gonna happen. Which raises a couple of questions: 1) Do you bench him for the marginal benefit you get of walt williams, at the risk of just sinking Glen Rice further? Or do you think that benching him will get him started? 2) Has Glen Rice's play made him untradeable? The team that loves to blow dough, the Knicks, were the ones who dumped him, so they aren't really an option. Realistically, Rudy won't dump Glen so soon, but are we stuck with Glen on our cap for 3 years, for better or worse?
